Scott Posted June 22, 2006 Share Posted June 22, 2006 I downloaded the latestest software from http://www.lightscribe.com last night and too it for a spin. I must say, although the images are not the highest quality, I'm quite impressed at the overall resuts. It took about 18-20 minutes to scribe a fairly detailed Disc in "best" quality. I think that they have done a lot to speed up the process. I'm at work now, but I will do a scan of an actual disc that I scribed and post it later tonight. If so, by how much?I didn't notice anything at all... I'm not sure why it would since there realy isn't any heat involved in the process. And the drive actually spins slower when etching the face. Question: can you just scribe on any (scribable) CD, or do you have to burn a new copy first, then scribe? I mean, can you do it independently of each other? I also did a DVD+RW at 4X no problem. However, that was the limit of my old media. I guess I don't really have any "new" media to test it with... all of my stuff is 8x DVD-R. The media is that color, and you can only make it lighter or darker. I think that that sort of gold colored media is the only available right now.
