joonshin
sometimes it's cheaper to make your own external hard drive. internal hard drive + external closure = external hard drive =) i made two myself, pretty easy

Marcster
Can you recommend a good external enclosure? Budget is under $50 shipped.I have three (3) of these:http://images10.newegg.com/NeweggImage/productimage/17-145-656-02.JPGGotta http://s23.photobucket.com/albums/b399/Marcster2005/Smileypad/Love/hb1.gif the 80mm fan keeping things cool. Much quieter than the 40mm high-speed jobs in most externals. All aluminum, pretty quiet. No complaints, I just wish it came in a silver configuration. Check out the reviews on Newegg for the DS3 = stellar. 250 reviews, averaging 5 stars, you just won't find that with any others.http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16817145656$36.99 + $4.99 S/H There is a version of the DS3 on Newegg that does Firewire, and another that does SATA drives, but either one of those is more $$$ than what I've posted above. I'm going to get one of these soon: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16817332003 (AMS VENUS T4 USB RAID Storage). You can set it up for RAID 1, which is unique in an external hard drive enclosure.

My current enclosure fried the drive that was in it because the little 40mm fan spun so slow it didn't help. I wish that one you posted had USB 2.0 and Firewire, though. It uses a 40mm fan, but still gets 4 out of 5 stars.Someone says: Great Case Pros: The fan really helps keep the hard drive cool. Some of the other cases around here you can fry an egg on. This case is always cool. I have a 300gb Maxtor drive in it. It is the best ext case I have ow...ned.http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16817145654
BCBGirl
Have you looked on Ebay? Western Digital is good but Seagate is better. You might be able to find one on ebay for about half the price of what you would pay in the stores.
