That doesn't really narrow it down much. High schoolers do all kinds of stuff these days.

 

Solely for academic purposes?

Photo/Video/Audio Editing?

Computer Science?

Gaming?

Makes sense. It will be used mostly for academic purposes with some photo/video/audio editing. Don't need a gaming machine or advanced graphics.

I would encourage you to go to blackfridaycharts.com to see them for yourself, but here's what I see:

 

Staples, Office Depot, & Best Buy all have a ~$450 machine that's either i3 or AMD A9 ish. This will be bare minimum to get by, but decent deals on those.

Then, Staples & Best Buy have ones around $699 with a bump in the processor to i5; Best Buy being the better deal of those two with 12GB RAM. I think that's your best bet for a machine that will last a few years, but if you're on a budget, one of those first 3 should get by for a high schooler for now.

Thank you , this helps a lot ! I would probably go with the Best Buy / Staples one considering it has a better configuration - hopefully it will survive for the next few years [emoji4]
