Official "Is it just me or do the ads suck this year?" Complaint Thread

OMG!! I can't believe I'm one of "these" people this year.  What's wrong with me?? I'm not impressed with them and it makes me sad.  I'm 99% sure though that once I get to the stores, I'll see lots of items that I need/want so I'm not to worried about it.

LMAO!!!!!

Reserving overall judgement until Home Depot ad comes out.

I am highly disappointed that that I don't need or want anything from the Walmart ad.  :),

I've got me a nice list of things to buy so far! Probably way more than I should. So I'm good!

This is what happened to me last year so it won't be a bad thing if I don't buy too much this year.  LOL

There are not as many things in the ads that I need this year as in years past.  The Walmart ad really surprised me.  I could actually skip Walmart and not miss much.  There are a few things I saw that I may pick up, such as the vanity (depending on the quality of it), rubbermaid bowls, and a few other kitchen stuff.  My daughter wants the iPhone 6 (she has been saving for several months for BF).

I will say I am glad that I took advantage of the Target sale with coupons to get her a hoverboard.  Although Walmart has one for 99.00 it is not the all terrain and it doesn't seem to have as many features as the one I got her.  I paid 158.00 for it including tax.

The things that my kids want outside of video games and a pair of wireless headphones (already purchased) are things that generally don’t go on sale on Black Friday. I’ll order a few video games and blu-ray’s but other than that, most of my shopping will be done with hopefully discount and promo codes or at least free shipping, lol. Having said that, there are a few things that caught my eye but not enough to venture out; if I can get them online great, otherwise I’ll get them another time. Edited by tyreejames

For me the difference this year isn't so much they suck, but I'm not in the market for much, so a lot of stuff doesn't interest me.  Though I do always enjoy this thread so I can't wait to see some of these replies.

This is me.  There's not much I want/need this year, so it's more entertaining to see people geek out over the ads. :D

Totally not impressed. I definitely don't need a TV (there seem to be a lot of them). I was hopeful, yet not optimistic, that they would have all new things in the ads this year, but they all have the same old things they always have. I do need to pick up another set of the Rubbermaid containers from Walmart to replace my crappy ones and my son needs a new phone, but I'm probably the least tech-savvy person on the planet! I was eyeing the iPhone 6 on Walmart's front page, but am clueless as to Straight Talk and Total Wireless. Is that the card you buy every month and add to the phone? And is it unlimited everything? He doesn't use his phone for talking much, but he does text and uses the internet on it so I'd like to find something with unlimited plans.

Are the ads not showing up for anyone else? When I click on any of the links to view a certain ad it doesn't provide a list and says the ad scans are not available.

This is at 8:42am PST

I'm able to see them.

Yes, those are the plans which you use a card and add them every month.  You can also pay online, but I've found it is a little cheaper to do it in the store.  I believe you can also buy up to 2 or 3 at a time (one for use now and the rest for reserve and they will autuomatically add on the day your service ends).  Or you can set up auto refill.

We started using Straight Talk when it first came to our area (probably 7 or 8 years ago).  It was higher speed data up until 2 GB, I think, and then it was much slower.  Now, they offer a truly unlimited plan for 55.00 a month.

We currently use Total Wireless because it was cheaper for our family.  We pay 100.00 a month for 4 lines (I think if you use auto refill it is 95.00 a month for 4 lines) and we have unlimited talk and text, and we share 25 GB of data.  If you just need one line you can choose the 25.00/month, which is unlimited talk and text, but no data.  Or you can choose the 35.00 a month, which includes unlimited talk and text, and, I think 6 GB of data.  Around our area, both Straight Talk and Total Wireless use Verizon Towers, which is what works best in our area.  I believe some of them will work off Sprint or possibly AT&T towers, but you can ask about that.

We love Total Wireless because it is a good price for a good service.  We've only used all of our shared data a few times but it was because one of our kids had forgot to turn Wi-Fi on at home.  If you do run out of a data you can buy an extra 2 GB (I think) for 10.00, and that amount will carry over if you don't use all of it before you renew the next month.

I got an $89 TV on a lightning deal one year, and literally about threw my laptop in the floor because I got so excited. LOL

:)

I remember when Amazon used to put out a list of times for DVD lightening deals and I wanted a Disney movie. Naturally the timing of that deal hit during our Thanksgiving lunch time. I tried so hard to be sneaky with my phone under the table to get that darn Blu-ray. I didn’t. Lol. I don’t even remember what movie it was now.
