RossMAN Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 Awesome deal for a loaded laptop and no rebate hassles. I wonder how battery life is with the Core Duo processor?
mrn8 Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 From what I've been reading about the Core Duo machines, the battery life is actually better than the Centrino machines. For the configuration I'm looking for, the $750 off $1500 coupon would be nice.
i-bystander Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 Really good deal... does anyone here have this model? First-hand thoughts?
RossMAN Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 Nate, what config are you looking at? Ray, looking at some reviews now:http://www.notebookreview.com/default.asp?newsID=2827http://reviews-zdnet.com.com/Dell_Inspiron_E1505/4505-3121_16-31757188-2.html?tag=nav
RossMAN Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 For the configuration I'm looking for, the $750 off $1500 coupon would be nice.Agreed and here's my ideal configuration, only upgrades are listed: Genuine Windows® XP Media Center 2005 Edition re-installation CD15.4 inch UltraSharp™ Wide Screen SXGA+ Display with TrueLife™60GB 5400rpm SATA Hard Drive85 WHr 9-cell Lithium Ion Additional Battery (sell original 6 cell battery on eBay) $1,228 - $300 off $999 = $928 I wonder if my local Dell kiosk has this model on display?
Brad Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 If you are going to go with RossMAN's configuration, you might want to add some more upgrades to get up to $1499 and use $450 off coupon code CWW3$617CT41SG. Basically $271 in additional upgrades for $121.
mrn8 Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 Nate, what config are you looking at? Upgrade to:Intel® Core™ Duo processor T2400Genuine Windows® XP Media Center 2005 Edition re-installation CD15.4 inch UltraSharp™ Wide Screen SXGA+ Display with TrueLife™60GB 5400rpm SATA Hard DriveDell Wireless 350 Bluetooth Internal85 WHr 9-cell Lithium Ion Additional Battery It puts it a touch over $1400, but with that coupon, I'd probably just up the warranty.
Brad Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 I really doubt you'll see the $750 off $1499 anytime soon. Dell has lowered their base prices so that the current round of coupons are pretty much as good as they've offered. A 30-37% discount like the current 3 coupons provide is still very good, especially with the free upgrades on things like the DVD burner.
RossMAN Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 If you are going to go with RossMAN's configuration, you might want to add some more upgrades to get up to $1499 and use $450 off coupon code CWW3$617CT41SG. Basically $271 in additional upgrades for $121.Stop it!!! You just want me to upgrade again, don't you?
RossMAN Posted March 21, 2006 Posted March 21, 2006 I just confirmed the $300 off $999 coupon code still works, hurry and get this before it expires!
mertc Posted March 22, 2006 Posted March 22, 2006 Hey All, Does anyone of you know if Dual Core is Centrino Core? Thx
mrn8 Posted March 22, 2006 Posted March 22, 2006 Hey All, Does anyone of you know if Dual Core is Centrino Core? ThxYes, all Intel Core Duo processors are built on the Centrino Technology.
mertc Posted March 22, 2006 Posted March 22, 2006 Yes, all Intel Core Duo processors are built on the Centrino Technology. Thanks for the information. By the way, do you know any way to extend the warranty 2/3 years in a cheap way? Cause it is always so much money..
RossMAN Posted March 22, 2006 Posted March 22, 2006 Thanks for the information. By the way, do you know any way to extend the warranty 2/3 years in a cheap way? Cause it is always so much money..If you pay with a Visa, MasterCard or American Express credit card some offer a free 1 year extended warranty. Which credit card do you plan on using?
mertc Posted March 22, 2006 Posted March 22, 2006 If you pay with a Visa, MasterCard or American Express credit card some offer a free 1 year extended warranty. Which credit card do you plan on using?Hi rossman i use the visa mostly.. do you think they can extend it one more year?
RossMAN Posted March 22, 2006 Posted March 22, 2006 Hi rossman i use the visa mostly.. do you think they can extend it one more year?Visa cannot extend it for more than one additional year on top of your Dell manufacturers warranty. I would recommend the Dell two year mail in warranty and pay for it with your Visa. Call Visa at 1-800-882-8057 and ask if your credit card is eligible for their warranty manager service?
conj Posted March 22, 2006 Posted March 22, 2006 I have 1 $35 off $300 Dell E&A coupon available to any active GottaDeal member who PM's me for them. These are stackable on any current sale price or % off coupon. Expires 3-29-06.What's E & A?
conj Posted March 22, 2006 Posted March 22, 2006 Electronics & Accessories could it be used with this deal?
RossMAN Posted March 22, 2006 Posted March 22, 2006 could it be used with this deal?Since a laptop is a computer system, the answer is no. E&A is normally digital cameras, camcorders, etc.
conj Posted March 22, 2006 Posted March 22, 2006 ahhhh.. to me, a lap top is electronic... but ok. Hmm lot to think about.
mrn8 Posted March 22, 2006 Posted March 22, 2006 ahhhh.. to me, a lap top is electronic... but ok. Hmm lot to think about. If you go to Dell Home, there is an Electronics and Accessories section. It's valid for anything in that area. If the Dell LCDs would come down another $50 or so, I'd use the coupon and get one.
RossMAN Posted March 22, 2006 Posted March 22, 2006 ahhhh.. to me, a lap top is electronic... but ok. Hmm lot to think about. So is a desktop but Dell classifies those as systems not accessories
RossMAN Posted March 22, 2006 Posted March 22, 2006 I just remembered that I have a spare $35 off $300 coupon which I think is stackable. Which of you two is serious about ordering this laptop TODAY?
conj Posted March 22, 2006 Posted March 22, 2006 I'm thinking, I'm thinking... DH says I won't do it, cuz it'll wipe out MY savings... I gotta feed the kids... .
Brad Posted March 23, 2006 Posted March 23, 2006 Dell just sent new coupons for tomorrow, and they are not as good as the current coupons. $200 off $1499 and $350 off $1999. So if you want it, you've got about 12 hours to do so. They are offering a 10% coupon tomorrow for XPS desktops and laptops as well. http://dell.gottadeal.com
RossMAN Posted March 23, 2006 Posted March 23, 2006 My $35 off $300 coupon code is GONE. However you can buy one for $1-$2 off eBay Search for Dell $35 off $300 Read the fine print and make sure it's stackable.
conj Posted March 23, 2006 Posted March 23, 2006 I'm gonna pass until I can talk to the IT guys at work, and see what kind of upgrading advice they have to offer... I will keep my eyes open for deals, but we've been a MAC house for so long, I can't say I am knowledgeable to do the PC shopping right now. Must buy a Powerball ticket.
