len_mullen Posted November 20, 2016 Posted November 20, 2016 A couple years ago, I tried out a View Master which used an iPhone in headgear to view slides. Pretty interesting, but not much use. Then there were some high end 3D/VR headsets which were too expensive for me. Now, I am seeing dozens of inexpensive sets. Are these on anyone's list? Anyone already playing with one? One reviewer said the iPhone SE is too small for these. Anyone disagree? julz0420 Posted November 20, 2016 Posted November 20, 2016 Walmart has one that's just at 10.00 and it works with iPhone. I keep saying we are going to get it but its always stocked full like nobody is buying them LOL. I'm not sure if we will get one or not. I did get my son a 3d viewmaster from QVC in July. Hopefully it'll work ok for him.

jaymacfla Posted November 23, 2016 Posted November 23, 2016 For the cheapest models, get some velcro to keep them closed and thereby saving your phone from coming out. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using GottaDeal mobile app
Monstermile Posted November 23, 2016 Posted November 23, 2016 I was able to get the Art+Vision VR headset that Walgreens is having for $9.99 with rewards card on Thursday and Friday last night for that same price.

And you have not tried it yet? Sneak off to a bedroom, take this thing for a ride, and come tell us all about it.

It was an emergency medicine run for my girlfriends son. Probably gonna try it out today and see if it is worth keeping.

stacya Posted November 27, 2016 Posted November 27, 2016 (edited) My son bought one from TRU on BF for $25. We took it back the next day because he said it wasn't compatible with his phone (it's a Moto G). He bought a cheaper one for $10, and he told me today, it is also NOT compatible with his phone, even though the box said it was compatible with almost any phone. I ordered one from Best Buy on BF for $10, and I assume I will be taking that one back as well...*sigh* He was SO excited to get one of these!! Edited November 27, 2016 by stacya

I'm sure it is all about the button placement on the phone. I picked up the $10 Art+Vision from Walgreens and the $9 Evo VR from Boscovs. The way the phone mounts looks very similar. But with the Evo VR the way it sits it either hits the volume buttons or power button on my iPhone 7 Plus. Didn't have the issue with the one from Walgreens.

How do they work?
Monstermile Posted November 29, 2016 Posted November 29, 2016 You're holding out on us! How do they work? Nothing to write home about. Found an iOS app with some videos and while it was neat, the novelty wore off in minutes. Video was blurry. Sometimes it was not centered. I imagine this will be pretty cool for kids playing games. I didn't have the desire to explore it any further. 1
