The holidays are a good time to buy one.  What are you looking to do with it?

I buy all of my video stuff at B&H in NYC.

My daughter plays soccer and we are looking to record games to eventually create a highlight video for recruitment purposes. So, it needs to have good stabilization, be easy to upload to a computer, and anything else that would be necessary for recording action.

Most camcoders these days will suffice for your needs. I don't feel that anything 4K is necessary, but you'll want full 1080p HD; look for good battery life, maximum memory card size and/or maximum single video length. Look for something with a screen for viewing rather than looking through the viewfinder.

The thing you'll want to invest in is an easy tripod!!! You want something portable, light, but very stable. You can't rely on your arm to hold it for an extended period of time. The one in the BestBuy ad may be suitable.
