Jason82 Posted September 30, 2004 Posted September 30, 2004 I bought the "premier" version of this headunit on ebay about a month ago. Pioneer makes the best price/performance headunits I'd say.
Brad Posted September 30, 2004 Posted September 30, 2004 I have the non-premier version. Works great.
mbony Posted September 30, 2004 Posted September 30, 2004 I have the non-premier version. Works great.Me too
Big Smooth Posted September 30, 2004 Posted September 30, 2004 Good deal, but I'd probably have trouble installing it myself...
RossMAN Posted September 30, 2004 Posted September 30, 2004 It would probably get stolen from our car because: 1) The auto theft rate in my neck of the woods is astronomical. 2) It's a "steal-me-now" Honda Accord. :)
Brad Posted September 30, 2004 Posted September 30, 2004 Good deal, but I'd probably have trouble installing it myself...I thought the same thing, but I was able to do it easily, and that included hooking up my XM to the aux. input and another adapter that I needed to keep my car's chime and retained accessory power working. As with any head unit, you might need other parts such as wiring harnesses or dash kits to make it look good, but the actual installation is easy, even for a car audio n00b like me, lol
Big Smooth Posted September 30, 2004 Posted September 30, 2004 Any good sites that give good instructions on basic car stereo installation? Also, my factory stereo is not a standard DIN size... where's a good place to buy kits to integrate it?
Brad Posted September 30, 2004 Posted September 30, 2004 I bought everything I needed at CircuitCity. I too have a weird dash size, but CC had the dash kit for around $12. What vehicle (model/year) do you have?
Pliablemoose Posted September 30, 2004 Posted September 30, 2004 I have the 5500MP, love it. Need to buy one of these for my wife's car.
Big Smooth Posted October 1, 2004 Posted October 1, 2004 Brad, I've got a 2000 Nissan Sentra. The factory radio is not very "tall".
Big Smooth Posted October 1, 2004 Posted October 1, 2004 Looks like I could get a dash kit and wiring harness from Parts Express for about 23 bucks. How does the Aux input for your XM work (how & where does it connect)?
Brad Posted October 1, 2004 Posted October 1, 2004 There is an adapter for the Pioneer that converts their IPBUS input to a regular a/v input. You would connect that to the rear of the unit, then the XM output to the other end. I bought the adapter at crutchfield, but you might find it cheaper elsewhere
Big Smooth Posted October 20, 2004 Posted October 20, 2004 Price dropped a few more bucks to $129.99.
