Mike Posted February 3, 2006 Posted February 3, 2006 I personally think I am addicted to Dell Outlet. Super HOT prices on some really decent systems. FREE shipping, you just pay tax, except those of you in OR. Things you NEED to know: Dell releases their new units 40 minutes on the hour, every hour. Keep in mind, the more people awake at whatever hour you're looking, the more competition. There are 3 different types of Dell "refurbs". You can narrow your search to include/exclude a specific type if you'd like. Previously Ordered NewBrand Spanking New, but cheaper Certified RefurbishedRefurb, but still in good shape, will run fine.Dents & ScratchesYMMV(Your Miles May Vary) here, some people get brand new machines....others get ones with dents and scratches. System still operates just fine though. All 3 types come standard with a 90 day limited/mail in warranty. This means you are only covered for 3 months and have to send it to them for repair. A 1 year in-home warranty can be purchased for either laptops or desktops though. If you're just planning on buying 1 system, then this isn't a must, but if you're going to be buying/reselling....Get a Dell Preferred Account. It's basically Dell credit. You save an extra 2% on each system you get. If you have a Dell preferred account, or you are going to apply for one, this is how you get the 2%. When in the checkout phase, choose to pay with 1 credit card(visa, mc, amex, etc). Dell will route you to enter your info. At the top will be a banner advertising the 2% discount if you use your DPA. Click this and follow the steps. Also, Dell routinely offers 20-30% discount coupons that run circulation. If you arn't able to get your hands on one while they are going around, you can buy them from ebay for generally pretty cheap. How to access Dell Outlet? Go to either the Home or Small Business portion of Dell. Underneath the main categories (the ones with linked pictures) there is a section that says "Outlet". Click here and go look at what you want, desktops/laptops. To get really good deals, you must be on time within the 38-48 minute range on the hour. Good deals are gone in seconds. An example of a system I just purchased: $354 Dell Dimension E510 Desktop-P4 Prescott 630-1GB DDR2-160GB SATA-128MB ATI X300-16X Double Layer +/- DVDRW-XP Home Post any questions you might have and I will do my best to answer them. Hopefully other people that have purchased from Dell Outlet will chime in as well.
BigBob Posted February 3, 2006 Posted February 3, 2006 I have been watching the Dell outlet site for a while too and there are some real deals to be had there, but you have to be quick. I read on another site that many re-sellers are running software "robots" that continuously poll the outlet site and automatically buy the items that are popular in the re-sale market.
mrn8 Posted February 3, 2006 Posted February 3, 2006 Are they pushing stuff through their outlet again? Last time they did this I got a couple of desktops for a great deal and was able to sell them both for a $100 profit.
RossMAN Posted February 3, 2006 Posted February 3, 2006 you just pay tax, except those of you in OR. Are you implying something? Also, Dell routinely offers 20-30% discount coupons that run circulation. An example of a system I just purchased: $354 Dell Dimension E510 Desktop-P4 Prescott 630-1GB DDR2-160GB SATA-128MB ATI X300-16X Double Layer +/- DVDRW-XP Home That is a great price for a Dimension E510. Was $354 before or after coupon? What was the coupon code?
fancychance Posted February 3, 2006 Posted February 3, 2006 Where can I find the Dell outlet? Is it on the regular site Dell.com?
sperdue Posted February 3, 2006 Posted February 3, 2006 An example of a system I just purchased: $354 Dell Dimension E510 Desktop-P4 Prescott 630-1GB DDR2-160GB SATA-128MB ATI X300-16X Double Layer +/- DVDRW-XP Home GREAT price. Stowasser Posted February 3, 2006 Posted February 3, 2006 Curious, this doesn't say modem, does that mean you can get online with iT? Was thinking for my mother but she needs it to be complete
Stowasser Posted February 3, 2006 Posted February 3, 2006 that is suppose to be can not get online as this computer is?
RossMAN Posted February 3, 2006 Posted February 3, 2006 Where can I find the Dell outlet? Is it on the regular site Dell.com?Click here I bought my wife's first Dell desktop through their outlet. Supposedly it was "refurbished" but it looked BRAND NEW to me. I think the majority of their "refurbished" machines are returned systems. Dell reformats the hard drive, re-installs the OS and repackages it. and best of all you get a great deal!
RossMAN Posted February 3, 2006 Posted February 3, 2006 4 more minutes until Dell refreshes their inventory, get your credit cards out ... Click here
Stowasser Posted February 3, 2006 Posted February 3, 2006 Do these come with monitors? It asked you to add them?
RossMAN Posted February 3, 2006 Posted February 3, 2006 Curious, this doesn't say modem, does that mean you can get online with iT? Was thinking for my mother but she needs it to be complete99.99% of all Dell desktops come with a built in 56k dial up modem and Ethernet card for high speed internet access. The trick is buying it at 40 past the hour and using a coupon to get it for under $400.
mrn8 Posted February 3, 2006 Posted February 3, 2006 I was looking through the E510 specs, and they come preinstalled with the "Wild Tangent Gaming Client." Isn't that spyware? I know I've cleared that off of many machines because it's ID'd by all the software programs as spyware.
Crazy Mama Posted February 3, 2006 Posted February 3, 2006 This is very much appreciated, esp the 40 after load info. My grandmother is looking for a computer and has asked me to help her pick it out. I got mine from dell on the refurb site and have had great luck with it. I'm off to see about a code.
RossMAN Posted February 3, 2006 Posted February 3, 2006 I checked at 9:42AM PST and the selection of Dell Dimension desktops under $500 was pretty limited. Mostly 3100's I want a deal similiar to the OP's for around $359 for a decent loaded machine.
Crazy Mama Posted February 3, 2006 Posted February 3, 2006 maybe I'm doing something wrong, but I added one and can't get free shipping. What the heck??
bpr Posted February 4, 2006 Posted February 4, 2006 Anyone got a coupon that works? I didn't see one on this site?
Mike Posted February 4, 2006 Author Posted February 4, 2006 Ross, I picked up that baby at ~2:40 am PST. Night Owls are in the best position for these guys. My E510 desktop was actually without coupon. These towers do not come with monitors and I suggest you don't add one in their accessories "to get" section. You can get the same monitor usually much cheaper if you buy it by itself via a deal here @ GottaDeal.
Mike Posted February 4, 2006 Author Posted February 4, 2006 Anyone got a coupon that works? I didn't see one on this site?I am currently not aware of any non-one-time use coupons available. To get one, you might have to purchase from ebay. If you're new to ebay, read the entire auction before you buy. People do sell expired coupons.
Mike Posted February 4, 2006 Author Posted February 4, 2006 Also, for my fellow resellers, be carefull with how many you buy. I just spent almost 2 hours with Dell's cancelation department. You supposedly can only buy 5 systems per "promotional period". Luckily I was getting paid to be on hold and they finally put through the systems they had stopped.
Mike Posted February 16, 2006 Author Posted February 16, 2006 UPDATE 2/15 Outlet deals are up again. Not as good as before, but you can still get a brand new P4 system with 160gb hd, 1gb DDR2, and a DVD burner for ~$400. No free shipping anymore
