mrn8 Posted January 30, 2006 Posted January 30, 2006 I've got a firewire enclosure for an IDE hard drive and I'm looking for something 300GB + to put in it. I currently have a 40GB drive in it, but I've got over 150GB of data that I need to back up from my computer. Just my digital pictures are taking up almost 40GB at this point. I'm not looking for a specific size, but the best price per GB. Rebates are fine.
i-bystander Posted January 30, 2006 Posted January 30, 2006 Is $0.30/GB ok? Here's one: 300GB Seagate - $89.99 AR

Ripn Posted January 31, 2006 Posted January 31, 2006 Seagates are one of the few (if not the only) that still carry a 5 year warranty. Just be careful of overheating when using it in your enclosure. I have friends who roasted drives due to heat when using those external enclosures. Read the warranty to see if it will be voided if you use an internal drive in an external enclosure.
