Just curious to know how everyone who has children that still believe in santa, how do you operate regarding gifts. . .by that I mean does santa bring all the gifts and therefore no gifts get put under the tree until Christmas eve night OR does mom and dad give gifts and santa brings the big gift(s)?

Nothing gets put under our tree unless it came from somebody else, I get up really early 3-4 a.m. and put out everything at that time has worked so far only one year I had overslept and when I woke I was told my DD was up earlier and saw nothing so she thought Santa wasn't coming, had to quickly get everything out and made a bunch of noise, never seen her come running out of her room so quickly thinking she would catch Santa. I started this tradition when she was young since I worked overnight I could just slip in put everything out and fall asleep on the couch so she could wake me up easily when she woke up. One year of course she didn't wake us up so she had unwrapped almost everything on us before we woke up she just didn't understand why we were mad, just love sitting there watching her open all the presents she got I used to take a picture of everything but as she got older I stopped doing it.

I had to stop putting tags on things as my kids one year got up early and divided up the gifts and rearranged everything before I could get pictures.  I had to start marking their packages with initials hidden in the paper designs so they could not do that anymore.  Although a couple of times I stumped myself.

Mom and dad give gifts, stuff like coats, shoes, cool hoodies (Santa does not bring clothes).  Those are wrapped and under the tree.  We always get them something neat too.  Husband's rule is that they had to have at least one toy (game, electronic) to open on Christmas Eve to hold them over to Christmas.  Santa brings (brought) toys and big cool things.  And things hard to wrap.  Santa does not wrap, he's way too busy to do that.  Kids are 15, 18, and 23 (she's not coming home for Christmas this year, boo), but Santa still puts their big gift under the tree.  The kids always liked coming out and seeing all their gifts all at once, and it was fun to see them discover each new thing.

When ds was younger the majority of everything was from Santa. A few were from us. Now that he's older everything just says from Santa.

Up until last year the gifts never went out until he went to sleep and he was 20. Even as a teenager he still wanted the magic of waking up and seeing the gifts for the first time.

We wrap everything including stocking stuffers.

It occurred to me the other day that for the first time in my life, Santa will not be coming to my house this year. Growing up, we always went out to look at Christmas lights on Christmas Eve, and while we were gone Santa came (we did this because we had to get up and go to someone else's house for Christmas day, and my mom didn't want us to be rushed with our new toys).  We continued that even after we "knew", and I continued the same tradition with my own children.  When my oldest son got married and their babies were born, they lived with me.  This year, they moved in to their own home.  Obviously, Santa won't come to Grama's house AND their house, so everything under my tree on Christmas Eve will have come from me.  This saddens me a little.

I tried to explain this to my youngest boy (19), and he totally doesn't get it. So, am I being totally stupid? LOL
