Proflowers

I had ordered my mom flowers from Proflowers.com for an early Christmas surprise (any time I order flowers for her I have them sent to work, even if it's earlier than the holiday, etc.). I usually use FTD, but when I was looking at their prices they wanted around $12 for delivery, then wanted to charge for a vase too! Any other time of the year, I don't experience with them. (I hope this is just a holiday thing and it's not going to stay like that :))

So I checked 1800flowers.com, and they were going the same route with charging around $12 for delivery and charging for a vase. I was going to give up, but I checked out Proflowers. They offered a free clear vase, but delivery was still $9.99.

I found a $10 off link, so with that it brought the arrangement I was looking at to $29.99, but I still didn't want to spend $40 on them if I didn't have to. I figured I'd keep looking around, or just not get flowers, whichever. Since I had begun the checkout, Proflowers sent me a 10% off link to use to complete my checkout. Alright, so my total came to just over $36 shipped.

I had them set to be delivered today. She won't be at work a full day tomorrow, and it cost extra to guarantee a morning delivery on Friday. My sister works with her, so she called this morning to tell me that the flowers came... BUT, they came without a vase, were not the right arrangement at ALL, and they were DEAD! (I had showed her the arrangement after ordering them.)

She ended up calling Proflowers and explaining to them what happened. They say they will ship out a fresh arrangement (of the proper arrangement) in a red vase (which is shown with the arrangement on the site, but the vase was $13 extra) and they will have it delivered tomorrow morning.

My sister said I could expect an email confirmation, but I had trouble getting online when I spoke to her. It's obviously working now, but I haven't received a confirmation. I do hope that the arrangement shows up tomorrow and that it's the right one (and not dead!). :)

Whenever I need to send flowers out of town, I look up a florist in that town and call them directly. Might cost me $1 for the call, but I ask for a commitment when they'll be delivered, and ask for the person's name, and that seems to ensure everything goes well.

I've done that as well and most are perfectly willing to take your cc over the phone.

If possible I prefer to deal with a local florist who knows the area and will deliver fresh flowers :)

Oh man, I hope they're good. A centerpiece is out for delivery from them to my parents today. I also just placed an order for 2 dozen candy cane roses, vase and Ghiradelli chocolates to be delivered to my husband at work tomorrow. I noticed after I completed my order that I had entered in our home zipcode and not his work zip. I called right away (within 3 minutes) and the CS person said she would send out a 2nd order at no charge to me. The way she was talking it sounded as if they were going to send 2 orders. She said they couldn't alter my first one and was suprised that their mail zipcode checker thing didn't spit my order out. Who knows, he might be getting 4 dozen roses tomorrow. I guess all the ladies who work for him will be jealous!

noaimhere: I'm not sure what Dr. Laura is, but it seemed that all of the arrangements on Proflowers when I ordered came with a free clear vase, but you could upgrade to another for an extra cost. The arrangement I ordered was shown with a red vase online, but it cost $12.99 to upgrade to the red vase. However, with the new arrangement they are supposed to send they are supposedly including the red vase at no extra charge.

mdcrim: I'm glad someone has had a positive experience with them. As I said, I usually order from FTD and have always been happy with them. My bf has had flowers sent to me from 1800flowers, and my mom has had some sent from there as well, and I've never found there's to be as fresh as the ones FTD sends from the local florists.

great dane mom: I got the emails for the deals on the roses, but I had already ordered the holiday tradition arrangement. Seemed like a good deal though, especially the one with the upgraded vase and chocolates ;)
