Thanksgiving Breakfast ideas

Just wanted to see if anyone fixes a big breakfast on Thanksgiving morning.  I try to fix a good breakfast since I don't have to cook for Thanksgiving.  I'm lucky enough to still have my parents and inlaws and they aren't ready to give up the cooking and letting the us older adults fix lunch/supper so I like to fix something good for breakfast.  This year I was thinking about fixing some bacon and French toast.  I have never cooked good french toast and am very unsure on what is the best bread to use.  I have read alot of recipes to use day old sliced bread but when I have used sliced regular sandwich bread before, it just doesn't taste as good. I want to use something different but not sure what.  Any suggestions or good recipes for french toast?

I always use Challah bread for french toast.  If you live near a Publix grocery store it's located in the bakery section.  I need to find my receipe but I like to make it as a casserole the night before and bake it in the oven.

Overnight French Toast made with challah is the way to go, in my opinion.  I posted a slew of French toast casserole recipes years ago somewhere on here.  Probably a Chr-stmas brunch thread...

I don't live near a Publix. :(. The only grocery store I'm near is walmart, food lion and IGA. I may have to make the challah bread if I can't find it at one of those places. I've never made it before so I may need to try it before thanksgiving. How many days should I make it in advance? If I make it on the tuesday night before, would it still be good on Thanksgiving morning?

Challah is also sometimes called Egg Bread.  I've never checked Walmart and I don't live near Food Lion or IGA.  I'm sure it will be fine if you make it a few days in advance because you're going to be pouring egg, milk, vanilla, etc over it.  It doesn't have the consistency of french toast that you make on top of your stove.

This might be the thread Gator Pam is talking about:  http://forums.gottadeal.com/topic/19642-christmas-brunch-recipes/#post208224

You did and I use the recipe for Christmas breakfast now. My family loves it. It is a stuffed cream cheese with strawberries.
