decafmom Posted December 7, 2005 Posted December 7, 2005 My son has several pieces of Playmobil toys, but his newest request (AFTER I am done shopping for him!) was a Playmobil Noah's Ark. Since we have several of the pieces, I know they're not cheap, but I was still surprised to see it listed at $69.99 on Playmobil's site. Plus, have any of you ever had to put together Playmobil toys? Yikes! Last year we didn't open the zoo until Christmas Eve after he went to bed. It took myself, dh, and my teenager THREE HOURS to put it together. He specifically asked for the Playmobil one (we have the Playmobile Advent Calendar and a picture of it was included in the brochure), but I wonder if I could get away with a less expensive one. Here it is... http://store.playmobilusa.com/is-bin/INTERSHOP.enfinity/eCS/Store/en/-/USD/PM_DisplayProductInformation-Start;sid=ewBasgILMthapkGdprRWlMw5PL_Tujlb7Sk=?ProductSKU=3255&CategoryName=US_storefront&PLS=0
Melissa Posted December 7, 2005 Posted December 7, 2005 How old is your son? Fisher-Price makes a cute Little People Noah's Ark that is much more reasonably priced.
decafmom Posted December 7, 2005 Author Posted December 7, 2005 He's five. I know they had those at WM on BF for $10, but I didn't get it b/c I didn't know he had an interest. Last year all he asked for was a mop, a broom, and a toy zoo, and he stuck with that all season. LOL
Melissa Posted December 7, 2005 Posted December 7, 2005 At 5 years old, I think the Little People one would be a great choice, even without BF prices.
First Lady Posted December 7, 2005 Posted December 7, 2005 You could probably get away with a less expensive one, but I think the little people might be too young for him after a short time. My son is 5 and we have done away with all the little people items as of this past summer. He has a big collection of Playmobil and I think it will last much longer (playwise) than other brands. Plus if he has other Playmobil pieces, they can all play together. I have a couple local stores that sell Playmobil and they run them on sale every so often. They just had 15% off, and their 20% off is not until Dec 22nd (or some date close to it). These are teacher/learning stores, maybe you have some in your area?? I think Playmobil (although costly) is well worth the money as it lasts forever and has a really good resale value too!
Melissa Posted December 7, 2005 Posted December 7, 2005 My girls are 5 and almost 8 and they still play with their Little People sets from time to time!
ReillyCheyenne Posted December 7, 2005 Posted December 7, 2005 Have you tried ToysRUs. I know we sell some Playmobil back in the Preschool section. If not there check in the Imaginarium section where the Legos are. I can't remember if we have that one or how much it runs if we do but I know we have a lot of Playmobil. Hope this helps.
shopping mom Posted December 8, 2005 Posted December 8, 2005 I had never seen this one but it is really neat. The FP one is cute for a two year old but this one would be better for your son in my opinion. I hope you can find it at a good price.
decafmom Posted December 8, 2005 Author Posted December 8, 2005 Thanks everyone. I still haven't decided if I'm going to buy it or not. I know my TRU sells Playmobil, so I may check and see if they have it and what the price is there.
First Lady Posted December 8, 2005 Posted December 8, 2005 I haven't seen the Ark ay my TRU, but if yours does carry it, you should try and find the 20% they sent out a while ago. Although not sure if it is still vaild since it was sent out with the Big Toy book.
Melissa Posted December 8, 2005 Posted December 8, 2005 I believe the Big Toy Book sales ended the day before Thanksgiving.
mombbsmj Posted December 8, 2005 Posted December 8, 2005 Target also carries Playmobil. I can't say if I've see a Noah's Ark but I have bought sets from there before.
