kulkel
Did anyone else run into this problem at BB on BF? I got into line at 9:30pm. And man it was below 0~! Anyways, I was 3rd inline. GO ME. After freezing my toes off (yes I did get frostbite rather bad) they came thorugh the line handing out the bid item tickets. And if you weren't there to grab them the sec they came out the door you didn't get the ticket you wanted. I though did get the ticket for the laptop. The gentleman infront of me was passed buy. I felt bad for him! So, then the doors opens and we all rush in. The map they handed us said to go directly RIGHT for the laptop. I did that, to be told that I was in the wrong place by an employee. So I rush to the back of the store where they directed me, to find out I was in the right place to start off with so had to go back to the front to NOW wait in a line for an hr. where if I would of stayed there in the beginning i would of been first! Anyways, I get the laptop that they hand me and the guy asked for my credit card for AOL. I was like huh?? He said I needed to sign up for AOL in order to rec' the sale proce. I argued with him and he got very rude. I tell him the ad did not state an AOL contract was to be signed. He says, "I am sorry, but if you want this laptop you need to sign up for AOL and pay for it here". I whip out the ad and tell him to show me where in the ad it states that...he says the ad dos not have to state it, that I could leave the line. Now this is about 40 mins of standing there arguing with him. And I did not wait in line outside almost 8 hours in the freezing cold to walk away and Heck I did not suffer frost bite to walk away either! So, I ask for a manger, he tells me it will be about 2 hours to speak to one to step to the back of the line. OVER my dead body I say, I will wait here until someone helps me. Finally he walks away to come back and say...I am sorry mam' you don't need to sign the contract it was a misunderstanding. Well, I noticed by now after watching all the others pay and sign for a yr of AOL, that they all were robbed. Needless to say, I was not only there in line outside for about 8 hrs but inside fighting with them for about 2 more. Why do they feel they can scam us? Then when I go to pay for the laptop, I pulled out the BBB's and they said I couldn't use them. I had to argue that. They said the BBB"s were not allowed on BF. I pulled out the rules (yes i went prepared) and said show me where it says that. The guy got red in the face...read it, and said it doesn't say it but they were told not to accept them. I Laughed and said well then, let me call my atty and see what he says, and BAM, they took the BBB's. I realize this is long, but wanted to get my point across and see if any1 else had the same problems.
Daisimae
I didn't go to BB on BF. Your experince is one of the reasons why I hardly ever darken BB's door. I just wanted to say that I'm sorry for your ordeal. It's very sad when you have to go to a store armed with their own fine print to get what was advertised. I think all this bait and switch, false advertising and upselling is getting out of hand. Retailers seem to look at customers as wallets that they can try to snatch as much out of, by any means necessary, including outright lies and even if their tactics are fraudlent. I also hope you have recovered from your frostbite.I was at CC Thursday night at 8:30pm and sitting outside from 10pm until store opening. I did get a laptop there. I know how you were feeling out in the cold all night.
msomnipotent
Was this at a large BB or a smaller store? My BB is very large, and I have had all kinds of problems with them, the least of it being nasty attitudes by the employees. I tried buying a plasma tv from them just before Thanksgiving and they wouldn't even order it for me. That's right, the guy actually said, "I don't want to order this for you." His excuse was that it wouldn't come until after the holidays, but we never said we needed it right away. I drove almost an hour away to a small BB and the difference was HUGE. I had 3 employees helping me, I was offered soft drinks, they gave the 12% coupon off of everything I bought instead of just one item, the manager recognized us on BF and stopped to check the status of our tv (which we got that very Saturday!!!), and on and on. And I still can't believe the manger said to just keep the $329.99 monitor when I drove back there to point out that they forgot to charge me for it. The other BB probably would have called the police on me for stealing! So if you like the prices of BB but hate their service, I would shop around for a smaller store. Oh, and I know that they had AOL contracts on all of their computers the day before Thanksgiving, which is probably why the employee thought you needed one. It is still no excuse for the way you were treated. I hate that some people (both employees and customers) think it is ok to be nasty just because it is BF. dukes4440
way to go kulkel for standing your ground! It doesn't matter where you shop you are always going to run across employees that have been rushed into service.ALWAYS keep your ad with you and if you are right you have to stand your ground! I'm amazed at people that allow themselves to be bullied into paying for something they don't want. Good Job!
