She is pretty lucky and has a lot of things already, so I am looking for some creative ideas? She is 13 as I say - she is riding a line right now between still playing with certain toys (Lego, American Girl, ect), and being interested in "older" things - electronics, makeup, clothes, ect. I had never heard of it until I saw some on here posting about it, neither had my daughter. I bought it from Amazon just the other day and had planned on saving for Christmas but went ahead and gave it to her yesterday. She absolutely loves it!! She caught on quite well and has taken it with her to school this morning. I hear it's a pretty hard item to find right now and will probably get harder. I've seen explanations on why from the RL folks, has to do with being fair to all vendors who sell it (smaller retailers got RL out there and now to put it in a store that offers a huge discount would leech business away from the smaller/local stores that gave it it's start). I've been told TRU sells a knock-off version for cheaper but that the RL allows you to do something the knock-off doesn't. Our RL is still in hiding for DD's b-day so I haven't played with it yet. We both love them! Does she wear jewelry? Brighton has nice, but inexpensive bracelets and charms. You could buy her the bracelet and a charm for two for Christmas and then add onto it for Birthdays, etc. I think a Kindle Fire would be great too... I love mine! She got a kindle fire HD, as well as fun socks, earrings, nail polish, gift cards to fun stores in the mall, iTunes gift card, books, posters, fun slippers, clothes. This is a fun age to shop for girls. I always see tons of things I know my daughter would like. I have a harder time shopping for my boys, ages 16 and 11. Not too expensive, but enough for her to know that it shouldn't be taken for granted. She also liked those wreck it journals, drawing pads with nice pencils, some small makeup (gloss, mascara, etc) She also liked to play computer games, (ie SIMS) and she loves to read, so we always were buying some type of series of books. I'm definitely getting the Rainbow loom and the Wreck It journal. I'm sure we'll be doing mineral make up and various nail polishes and stickers (the girl loves to do her nails). She has always enjoyed cooking and around 13 she asked her Italian Great Grandma to start teaching her how to make things like Ravioli... Maybe you can work together to make it and then throw in some supplies to start with? Thanks!It does make different lengths. My DD made one at TRU and they measured her wrist and told her how many bands to start with. Sales seem to be a national thing where all jewelers participate and Pandora sanctions. A while back they had a promotion where you spent so much on charms($80-100) and got free bracelet ($65 value) so I used that for my moms bday gift in Sept. She rarely asks for anything at all so I just pick what I would have liked at that age. -gift cards are always a hit because they like to pick out their own clothing -a cute little purse for school since alot of schools don't allow them to carry around backpacks anymore(dd got her first Coach purse at 13 because I found a great deal at the outlet) -movie tickets, restaurant gift cards, a season pass to amusement park or pool (something to do with friends) -gift certificate to get her hair done at a salon, or mani/pedi at salon -a new comforter/pillows for her bedroom I will keep thinking....I love this age for shopping!
