timbermommy Posted November 30, 2005 Posted November 30, 2005 Im leaning towards the PSP.. any helping comments? any idea of any sales?
jpeyton Posted November 30, 2005 Posted November 30, 2005 Depends on the age of the child and what games they would prefer. Older children (and adults) might prefer the PSP for more mature-themed games and media player capabilities. Younger children (and children at heart) might prefer the DS because of first-rate Nintendo titles (Mario, Zelda, Mario Kart, etc.), huge library of games from the DS and Game Boy Advanced catalog, and longer battery life. The DS clamshell design is also a bit more durable (PSP definitely needs a case to prevent getting banged up). Both systems have the pluses and minuses.
timbermommy Posted November 30, 2005 Author Posted November 30, 2005 not for a child... for a grown man..who wants a handheld gaming system lol

timbermommy Posted November 30, 2005 Author Posted November 30, 2005 I figured he would need the more pricey of the 2.. any heads up on the graphics quality of the PSP?
biomajor Posted November 30, 2005 Posted November 30, 2005 The graphics on the PSP are awesome. He can also use it as an mp3 player, download movies to memory sticks and it will connect via wi-fi :-)
RossMAN Posted November 30, 2005 Posted November 30, 2005 Definitely the PSP and some can be hacked look on http://www.i-hacked.com for more info.
timbermommy Posted November 30, 2005 Author Posted November 30, 2005 target has one in thier ad.. but its not a real sale
biomajor Posted November 30, 2005 Posted November 30, 2005 I also need to add that my DH has them both and hasn't touched the DS since he got the PSP. He got the DS for his birthday in early March, and I got the PSP's the day they came out (late march, maybe?) He uses his PSP a lot--we have about 15 games for it now and about 6 movies. Some of the games are multiples, so the kids and dh can play together.
RossMAN Posted November 30, 2005 Posted November 30, 2005 biomajor - Have you considered selling the Nintendo DS? It's better than having it gather dust.
ReillyCheyenne Posted November 30, 2005 Posted November 30, 2005 You definitely want to get the PSP because the graphics are really good. The only complaint I have ever had with it at my work ( I deal with the defective returns at ToysRUs ) is that it only has the 1 speaker and it is not very loud. It is a great game system other than that one complaint.
biomajor Posted November 30, 2005 Posted November 30, 2005 No, my son uses it a bit. He likes to play his GBA games on it. We've only bought 2 DS games, so that might be why they don't play with it as much, but they haven't shown any interest in any of the new games, either.
RossMAN Posted November 30, 2005 Posted November 30, 2005 Bummer I was hoping to buy your Nintendo DS for a little less than retail
biomajor Posted November 30, 2005 Posted November 30, 2005 Bummer I was hoping to buy your Nintendo DS for a little less than retail If he weren't playing with it instead of his SP, I would have :-)

fairydustcrissy Posted December 1, 2005 Posted December 1, 2005 I love my DS!!! We actually traded in the PSP a while back. I can see why most people would prefer it though. But me, I love Mario Kart too much....
