monimon11 Posted November 27, 2005 Posted November 27, 2005 I was just wondering how many your store had, because the City of Industry, CA only 10 at the reg price and the rest they added that dumb $100 package with virus protection?
Mike Posted November 27, 2005 Posted November 27, 2005 10 If they only had 10, you could have demanded them to give it for $379. Otherwise that would be bait and switch.

The $100 virus protection is a rip off and is optional although they will HARD SELL you on it. There are several virus protection and spyware programs available online for FREE. Did you buy the laptop?
AZwildcatsR1 Posted November 27, 2005 Posted November 27, 2005 The same here in Mesa, AZ. The first 10 were the sale price, the next 5 or so were $118 more because they had "pre-loaded" anti-virus software on them. Guy #11 got really mad about the whole thing. The kid handing out the tickets told him he'd be right back. When he came back out, he'd "found" another laptop without the pre-loaded stuff on it. Hmmmm.......

Stick to your guns, show them the ad and demand the $379 laptop.
Mike Posted November 27, 2005 Posted November 27, 2005 how if they had the minimum the ad said they would? They have to have 10 at the 379 price.
saturnboy01 Posted November 27, 2005 Posted November 27, 2005 They have to have 10 at the 379 price.Tell that to my local BB. I believe they only had 7 or so..MAYBE 10. The Emachines $149 our local ad said MIN of 20 there were only 9 available to purchase. I know because I was #6 of 9 people that got one.
emptynest-2 Posted November 27, 2005 Posted November 27, 2005 One iof ours according to the vouchers 16. However, there was only 14 sold, they was sold out after that. I had voucher 14 of 16. Nothing mentioned about preloads.
coolsteel Posted November 27, 2005 Posted November 27, 2005 9 , but then they had tons upon tons of those emachines for 150 which I thought was sort of a funny trade off.
Guest lolwtfbbq Posted November 27, 2005 Posted November 27, 2005 i had a similar experience with that... i was the first person in line, i got two of the laptop slips(someone else gave me theirs) i was the first person they dealt with. i got no bs from this guy, except the additional service protection and accessory package which is the normal aftersell stuff. i went home and asked my mom to go and pickup the other laptop since they wouldnt let me have two. she goes, and she gets the same crap. her flier was number 3 on the paper, signifying 3rd in line... they told her they only had preloaded laptops left and that she would have to get one of those, 498 bucks she told them that was illegal, and asked to speak to a manager. the manager gave her the same bullcrap. when she was walking out, they called her a snoody bitch and she heard it. god forbid if i EVER find out which punk it was. i wont be shopping at best buy again anytime soon. hell, i returned everything i bought except the laptop and desktop, of which both are great so far. ive got a gig of memory on order for both, and added a 120 gig hd for the other comp along with dvdrw coming, all from new egg. i tried to get an extra 256 memory stick from best scam, they wanted 119! freaking morons...
JChui Posted November 27, 2005 Posted November 27, 2005 they had 12 for mine, i hadn't see any tickets for it and this goon in a geek squad uniform was like sorry no ticket, no laptop. i was screaming profanity up and down the store. It sucks because i know limited supply, but the walmart around me had 60 instock! BB has lost me as customer because of it. I froze my butt off for 3 hours for 12 laptops that i had no chance of getting. Last year, i waited with my friend for a camera and we were about 100 in line and we still got it.... horrible bf experience

ALWAYS.
FatRocky Posted November 27, 2005 Posted November 27, 2005 Dragonslayer1500 and I were the first ones in line at BB and they only had 10 $379 laptops total. I think only 4 didn't have the virus crap on it and the other 6 did. They tried to talk me into it but it wasn't worth it. I did end up getting the camera bag with accessiories. The little wireless mouse is nice and the bag is cool. All for only 30 after rebate.
MeAGNL8agn Posted November 29, 2005 Posted November 29, 2005 Best Buy in Springfield, Missouri had 14. First people in line said they had arrived at noon Thanksgiving day!
amandasdennis Posted November 29, 2005 Posted November 29, 2005 8 Once again BAIT and Switch...They should change their name to Bait and Buy.
