DarkDogg Posted November 26, 2005 Posted November 26, 2005 Some stores have passed out conditional vouchers that get negated if the person leaves the line. I think more retailers should do this. Pass out vouchers at 12 AM or 1 AM or whatever and then check once an hour to make sure people stick around. Through my experiences at Best Buy and Circuit City, vouchers aren't foolproof. People cut in line at 4 AM (5 AM in the past) and grab vouchers from deserving people. I myself have not been a victim but if I braved sub-zero temps and a snowstorm for 6 hours to get a laptop, I had better damn well get one. Dave
DarkDogg Posted November 26, 2005 Author Posted November 26, 2005 Sorry to reply to my own post, but I just read about a Wal-Mart having chairs with numbers on them for certain items. That is a brilliant idea. Not only do you settle the voucher issue, but you give people comfort too. Nice! The only problem is that you can't get different\multiple vouchers. However you can't please everyone and as long as you're able to get the one item you REALLY wanted, then I'd say it's a great idea!
emptynest-2 Posted November 27, 2005 Posted November 27, 2005 The voucher system should work if you have the correct number of vouchers for the items. I had a voucher for the Toshiba laptop at BB, but they ran out of laptops. My voucher was 14 of 16 and they were two laptop short. This after waiting in line from 11:30pm Thurs. Everything happens for a reason, however I think that I will call Corp. Maybe next year.
shopping mom Posted November 27, 2005 Posted November 27, 2005 My dad got a voucher from Home Depot and went to get it and they said they did not have any. Why give it out if you don;t have it. Wal-mart should have done better too. Parents had friends in from South America and they really wanted a laptop. Got them in line, but apparently someone let a bunch of friends and family cut in and she did notknow what to do. She missed the laptop by two people. I think when you get there they should hand them out and not let people cut.
Mike Posted November 27, 2005 Posted November 27, 2005 If everyone knows they will pass out vouchers at midnight, you will have 10 times the amount of people waiting at that time. Then people would just get their vouchers and go home until 5am.
Guest general41391 Posted November 27, 2005 Posted November 27, 2005 The workers do not want to get there that earlly. No one comes to the store until 3 (if they open at 5) or 4 (if they open at 6) and sometimes later
happyrat Posted November 27, 2005 Posted November 27, 2005 Have not done doorbusters at Compusa for 3 or 4 years now so the policy may have changed. They used to only give you 1 voucher for your choice of items. You could not get 1 of everything, just 1 item period. I like it because it gave more people a chance to get something.
Guest lolwtfbbq Posted November 27, 2005 Posted November 27, 2005 bb gave out vouchers at 4:15. i got 3 of the digital camera vouchers, but those things sucked hardcore.
