Thank you for confirming that compusa's prices blow! The 32 inch lcd deals are weak except for the protron at sears, too bad. Our only hope is syntax will rotate the 300 rebate with more stores than just compusa, then we could get the 32 inch online for 750 shipped AR.

Keep an eye out on Fry's/Outpost - they have very competitive pricing when it comes to Syntax IMO.

Wal-Mart * 42" Widescreen Plasma TV - $997.00 is not list as a limited amount. Does that mean I do not need to drag my sorry ass out bed at 5 am?

Any take on what MFG this is? I need just a good monitor and do not care about sound as I have kick a$$ HT.

Best buy sucks in my view as they smallest stock and I get screwed evertime I try to get thier hot deals.

I am guessing (disclaimer: :grandpa: total speculation to follow) that this might be the Ilo plasma that some of the stores carry right now for ~$1500. Ilo is a WM house brand and are thought to be made for WM by Tatung - a Chinese brand that WM also sells. ONe of the WMts near me has the Ilo and the other doesn't - both super centers.

Anybody know if WM will do a buy online and pick up in store? I suspect shipping on this TV will not be cheap  - any estimates?

I think the best buy out there is the Magnavox 42" HD Plasma from Best Buy at $1499.99. I was going to buy an ED model this week with a built-in tuner for a $100 more at the AAFES PX/BX but I'll get in line at 12AM to save $700 over the current price.

Currently there is a much better deal for the Syntax Olevia 37" LCD HDTV at Microcenter, $1199, or $1099 if you sign up for a new credit card. I doubt if any BF deal will beat it! I bought one, and for the money this is one super TV!

Since I'm a noobie, the autopost cops wouldn't let me post a full URL, so tack on the 'www' to below:

As a WalMart employee that works in the electronics dept., I can confirm the Ilo plasmas are in fact made by Tatung.

Ilo LCD's however, are made by Initial (26" model) or Tatung (23" model). I can't recall who makes the 32" model, but I'd guess Tatung because they also make the 15" and 19" pc monitors.

Ilo DVD recorders are made by Cyberhome (DVD only) and Lite-On (DVD + DVR).

the 23" standard CRT set? We haven't received them yet at my store, but I'd be suprised if it isn't a Funai sub-brand (Emerson, Sylvania, Symphonic, SV2000). I don't go back to work until Monday so I can't confirm the brand until then. If I had to guess however, I'd say either Symphonic or SV2000.

Hey Fuzzy... do you know if the BF 42 inch plasma will in fact be the same Ilo WM now carries or will it be something else? Brand? Specs?

We haven't got the ads in at work yet. The best I can do is check SWAS reports (for home office purchased items) and search our inventory database by supplier. I can't do any of this until Monday because the computers won't let you log in if you are not scheduled for work and clocked in.

I'm not even sure we're getting them here at this point, though I really hope we do. We're the largest WM in our area and we sell a lot of LCD's and projection TV's. The others in our area only carry 2 or 3 HDTVs, we have 25 models (that's more than we have standard sets!).

 The 65" rear projection tv at Sears, is that any good. It is only 1999. so I am concerned that it is not the best.

I don't know anything about these new tv's. We have the same tv's from 10 years ago.

My dad bought a 61" from Best Buy last year. It was not a BF deal. There was a 40" or something for BF deal that was 888. and he saw the bigger tv's and bought the "big one". Now we go to his house and it is like a movie theatre! Our tv is like 20 something inch. Teeeney!

FOR ALL WHO ARE LOOKING AT THE 42" PLASMA AT BEST BUY

I advise you check this one out and be prepared for disapointment. I think you will find this is an EDTV with built in HD tuner. The magnavox website does not show any HDTV plasma sets they manufacture. You can find the model 42MF130 for sale at various locations for around $200 more. It also has the built in HD tuner. This one is the 42MF230 so it is probably the same TV rebadged for BB. Notice in the scan it says "42 plasma with built in HDTV".

I was very interested in this TV until I checked it out. Could be wrong I suppose, but probably not. Also the reviews I found for 42MF130 are not that great for ED and very bad for regular TV. If you just have to have ED plasma for cheap, get one of the under $1000 dollar models. No HD tuner, but if you are on cable or dish how often will you use the HD tuner anyway? Better to upgrade to cable or dish HD box with DVR instead and save yourself the extra $500.

According to Consumer Reports nobody make a less reliable big screen TV than Mitsubishi. If you get this one, definitely get extended warranty, or better yet, get a Sony, Toshiba, or Panasonic and save yourself some grief. The Toshiba 51" at BB could be a good choice. My Toshiba 53" HD is 6 yrs old, has been moved across country, get used for hours every day, and has had zero problems. You should get similar service from Sony or Panasonic. And remember the most expensive is not always the best, it just costs more. Do your research before you shell out your cash!!

in response to the toshiba 51 in-this is a 51HC85 at both sears and cc. this is a hd monitor widescreen 16x9 screen. this is a great buy for this money. it retails at most locations for 1199-1299. picture quality is superb. wont find much out there any better. they also make a 57 in same set usually is about 200 higher.

in response to the 46 in dlp at best buy. i would be very surprised if it was the 46hm95 series. i would guess they made major buyout on 46hm84 a last year model. all i will say is that if it is the 46HM95 series tv, that at 1499 this is a remarkable tv. Great pc for a smaller piece. This set will fit into the smaller rooms and give you great picture quality....

in response to the mitsubishi 65 in-1999 is a ok price. mitsubishi is a good tv set. i would agree that the toshiba and sony would be better sets. however i dont beleive they are making any sets above 57 in screen size.

999 plasma tv-to all those looking at these sets. make sure you compare picture quality of these sets to the step up models. i owuld imagine you will see some great pricing on panasonic edtv pc whihc is rated best selling plasma tv on market-60000 hrs of life. most 999 sets probably would be lucky to give you 10000 hrs of life. 10000 hrs is 5 hrs a day for 5.5 years. not bad for 999. however 60000 hrs at 5 hrs a day is about 30 years-yes i know that is alot and probably is not realistic. but that is what they say. i would rather spend a little extra to get the "quality" and "features" of the name brands panasonic-#1 plasma on market, toshiba, or hitachi. just dont be suckered in on the 999 plasma. might not be as great a deal as you think. yes price is great but product-that we will have to wait and see....

Hi, i just got home from bestbuy in houston TX

went out to scope all the deals I would potentially take advantage of..

I was really interested in the Hisense 20" LCD Flat Panel TV - $287.99 AR *

and unfortunately i was extremely dissapointed. Im not a person who really cares about the greatest quality as long as its acceptable..

im sorry to say the quality was horrible..

i wasnt expecting much.. but it was really really bad

at first i thought it probably had a bad connection so i unplugged it and replugged the video cable.. and played with all the adjustments

it was exceptionally grainy and washed out ! compared to anything and everything around it

im going to go to another bestbuy later this week to see other stuff.. ill see if maybe this specific unit was bad..

any body have any questions about it.. feel free to ask!
