ear_1987 Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 This is the first time my Mom has ever really asked for anything for Christmas. She's really stoic and hardly ever lets her wants become audible to others because she wants everyone else to get what they want. So now that I know this is what she wants, I want it to be nice. I found something from Zales that I do think is nice and not cheap, but I'm not a jewelry expert and have never bought anything like this for anyone before. This pocket/pendant watch comes in silver and gold. I cannot post the links on here because I don't have enough posts, but it's called: Ladies' Personalized Silver-Tone Pocket Clip Watch (8 Characters) from the Zales website. Is this a good item for the price?? I don't want to buy my Mom junk for the one time she actually asked for something on Christmas! Also, you can have it engraved... which I think is nice, too. I'm also confused on that, as well. First name or initials? Any help would be great! It is also available for free shipping and the Cyber Monday discount.
Elmck Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 Sounds pretty. Is it overlaid or 100% (basically)sterling silver or gold (what karat). For the engraving how about Mom and 12/25/11
ear_1987 Posted November 28, 2011 Author Posted November 28, 2011 I'm glad you brought that up. I just read that they are gold-tone and silver-tone. From what I've read, that means they aren't even plated with real gold or silver, just dipped in paint. Is this true? If so, I don't think this is worth $80. :-(
ear_1987 Posted November 28, 2011 Author Posted November 28, 2011 (edited) *Edit: I think the link is dead. :-\ It's called Engravable Stainless Steel Pocket Watch from J.C. Penney. I found this... and feel a bit better about it as it is stainless steel and has engraving option, too. Suggestions? http://www.jcpenney.com/jcp/X6.aspx?Grptyp=PRD&ItemId=16954bd&cmOrigId=167234e&cmTypeFlag=RichRel&cmCatID=searchresults Edited November 28, 2011 by ear_1987 dead link
