Does anyone know anything about the Know Your Name Elmo? I have heard from several friends that the Know Your Name Pooh that has been out did not work so well.

I am thinking of getting it for my 14 month old son. He loves Elmo.

gotta say make sure your kids name is there....I know that seems obvious but as much as Gpa *thinks* its such a great toy the fact that it DOESNT say her name makes it not that great LOL Yes we have an odd name but just had to post something cause I am still rolling my eyes after the argument with Gpa about this one LOL

Thanks. My son has a fairly common name (Trevor), but I will check to make sure.

I have a lot of problems finding stuff w/ my girls name on it. Especially my oldest. Guess that is what I get for being unique.

If you have a toys r us near you, go there they have them set up for the holdiay season.

I played with one at our local toys r us and it would change my daughters name from Shelby LaRae to Shelby Lynn. So this is a down fall, but I did see the back of the box has a number to call if the character does not say the names right.

Update:

We got Elmo for my youngest for Christmas. Well, it took about 15 times of downloading to finally get Elmo to "know you name" and that was due to my dad finally taking him apart and realizing that one of the wires in his hand was not connected.

Anyway, Elmo is supposed to know "over 100 stories, games, and songs". That may be true, but you can only download three at a time so everytime you want to hear something else, you have to download him again.

I do have to say that he is cute and my son loves it.

My 2 yo brother got one for Christmas and I think its adorable! Although I didn't get the pleasure of having to download anything so I don't know how that works. His name is Jonathan so it didn't have any problems there.

If they still make it check out the My learning leap. Its programable and you can buy cartridges that go with it that can also be programmed. You do all the programming with a built in microphone thing. My DD is 4 and LOVES the one santa broght her for christmas. She has an autism spectrum disorder and really likes things that talk to her and the fact that it said her name really got her excited.

I got my son, Elijah, the Elmo for Christmas and although he is just turning 1 on the 7th, he loves it! When it's a week before your child's birthday the first thing it says when you squeeze it's hand is "Hi ((Elijah))! Guess how many days until your birthday? ((2))" He just cracks up every time. I find it amazing that you can program it before you even take it out of the box if you were going to give it as a gift or something. But anyways, he loves it! I tried the Pooh one in the store and it said my son's name in a very low voice...it even scared me! So check out the name in the store before you buy!
