christina5704 Posted November 26, 2011 Posted November 26, 2011 I ordered 2 ipads, one from Apple and included the Applecare plan. The other I ordered from walmart and added the 2 year spills, break, and something or another plan. My question is... Has anyone ever had to use the protection plan at Walmart? I ordered the one at apple.com without reading what exactly the applecare plan included. When I went back later to read it I noticed that it didn't say anything about spills, dropping it, etc... Seemed like it was more of a technical support type plan. I ordered the one from Walmart while marked down and added their plan and figured I would just return the one from Apple. I did read some where on the internet that if something happens to your ipad you could file a claim under your homeowners policy! That is something that I really do not want to do. Anyone have any experience with this? Thanks in advance and sorry if this is posted in the wrong section, I wasn't sure where to post it.
peppysfireball Posted November 26, 2011 Posted November 26, 2011 I always order mine from square trade. I don't trust walmart. If you file a claim on homeowners you are subject to your deductible and most deductibles are fairly high. Mine is 1000
christina5704 Posted November 26, 2011 Author Posted November 26, 2011 Cool thanks! I thought that you could only get the squaretrade warranty for amazon products. Now I know differently. I know about the deductible and the possibility of your insurance going up if you file a claim.
peppysfireball Posted November 26, 2011 Posted November 26, 2011 I received a 35% off code in an email yesterday. but it says its for exclusive VIP customers only. Do a google search for one. I've never paid more than 40% off for one. I always get the 3 year and add accident coverage. If they don't have repair centers like the kindle, they send you a check to buy a new one. Much better than getting refurbished from the manufacturer. Cool thanks! I thought that you could only get the squaretrade warranty for amazon products. Now I know differently. I know about the deductible and the possibility of your insurance going up if you file a claim.
happy410 Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 So you can order this plan no matter where you bought your I pad?
christina5704 Posted November 27, 2011 Author Posted November 27, 2011 So you can order this plan no matter where you bought your I pad? After i posted yesterday, I was reading the squaretrade details and it said for amazon purchases only, if you bought your item somewhere else please call and it gave an 800 number. I believe I saw it said something about Mon-Fri. so I will call them Monday morning to see if I can use it since I didn't purchase it from amazon. If amazon had had it on sale like other places I would have gotten it from there.
christina5704 Posted November 27, 2011 Author Posted November 27, 2011 ok, here is the scoop with the ipad warranty. I called squaretrade this morning and they told me that you can not purchase the squaretrade warranty that is listed on amazon.com if you did not purchase the product from there. However, you can go to squaretrade.com and purchase the warranty there (not sure what the difference is but...) it is the same price as what is listed on amazon and they have a specific warranty for the ipad.
peppysfireball Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 yes, they have special pricing for amazon and ebay purchases. I have bought 3 square trade warranties but I always do it from the website, I bought a samsung tv, a kindle, and a portable dvd player. They are not affiliated with amazon , they just have contracts for special pricing on items they sell.
