lelalenore Posted November 25, 2011 Share Posted November 25, 2011 Just returned from a quick trip to my local WM to scope out the locations of small items for the 10pm sale. Several people were already placing items in their cart I guess waiting until 10 pm to check out with them. I plan to go back at 8 pm to stay for the 10 pm "Tape Cutting". Everyone around me was going crazy filling up their carts so I did too. Now waiting in line for ping pong/trampoline/power wheels. I want the ping pong table. they have this area roped off. They told us you could not pay for the items until they went on sale though. I watched someone try to checkout at 12M item at 10pm and the register beeped. tazolover Posted November 25, 2011 Share Posted November 25, 2011 There were employees guarding the pallets at the store we went to. But, then I was seeing people with items in their carts. The employees told me that if they found people taking things out early, they would be escorted from the store. Well, that obviously wasn't being done since everyone had stuff in their carts early. So bummed because last year things were so much smoother. Frenzied, but much more organized. They were very clear that if they caught anyone doing it, then they would be escorted from the store. I was very very surprised at how well organized things were this year at our WM store. Everything was completely wrapped. It was good. I go my trampoline ticket (didn't have to stand in line), got my daughter the operation buzz light year, and my boys a football each. We were checked out by about 10:15. It would have been earlier but husband's cousin asked hubby if her son could stand with him so he could get a football. So we had to wait on her to pick him up. I was right next to the aisle that had all the dvds in shrink wrap. People started ripping the shrink wrap around 8:30 and grabbing whatever they wanted. Employees were standing there trying to stop them, but people were shoving and screaming. I went to Target afterwards and everyone was fairly respectful of people...of course, Target had police officers in and out of there stores! civicracinggirl7 Posted November 25, 2011 Share Posted November 25, 2011 A few years ago, when the BF WM sale started at 5 AM, the store we visit allowed customers to put items in their carts around 3:30. We then stood in the checkout lines until 5 AM for the prices to go into effect. The past couple of years, employees and security have guarded the pallets and not allowed items to be taken until just before the sale time. Last year, I believe it was about 15 minutes early... on one side of the store. Upon going to the other side of the store, employees tried to claim that it wasn't time. Had to inform them that they were allowing it on the other side of the store, at which point they used their walkie talkies to find out that it was allowed. This year, go time was 9:55 PM. Breathalyzers to enter the store maybe everyone sign and give Ids to enter along with signing a release that they are being video taped and all violence will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law. I also think it's a sign that recession isn't over. If nothing else is getting more pronounced as it lingers. So headed to a walmart, Landed in Lebanon,TN and things were allowed in cart except tv's and game consoles, and laptop (I think). I ended up getting over 70 towels, for me and some other people. and lots more stuff. For the record, I didnt not hoard all the towels, we walked around the store at least 5 times ans I picked up some at almost every passing. I just couldnt help it, lol. It took hours for them to be all gone. I even got some things I didnt need, being at the store and walking around not worrying about trying to fight to get stuff, I was free to get more and even stuff not on sale. copados1993 Posted November 27, 2011 Share Posted November 27, 2011 Hubby and I first set out to Walmart. We have 2 within a 15 minute drive. We chose the one we always go to first. I have to say it is the nicest Walmart that I have ever seen. It reminds me of Target. We have brought lots of out of towners there and they all comment they can't believe it's a Walmart... Back on track lol... We arrived by 8 and went inside. It was awesome inside. It was SOOOOOO organized! As you walked in, they handed you a map. We were there for video games and movies. (10 pm sale items) They had organized lines for everything. We waited in the line no more than 15 minutes to get into lawn and garden( this is where some electronics were) you stayed in a line and were not allowed to pass. You waited your turn... It was perfect. You could not check out with this stufff until midnight but that was fine. About 9:15 I mentioned to hubby maybe we should head up front. People just started lining up so we did to. We were number 3 in line. 5 mins later the lines were horrible but there were no issues. This Walmart was wonderful...our other Walmart and other stores(including our Target which is where we headed to) there were fights and people were arrested or taken to the hospital. nef Posted November 27, 2011 Share Posted November 27, 2011 I was in MD this BF. We got there around 8:30 and I got in the x box line. I as 35 and they had 54. They line was roped off, but there were places where a few people tried to bust, but we shamed them out of line. My only issue is that they kept counting the line, but they said they wouldn't give out tickets until 10, which didn't make sense because they went on sale at 10? I think they should have given out the tickets earlier and said you had to wait in line. The bad part is that if you were in the lines for the game systems you would have missed out on the games if you didn't have anyone else with you to get those. I was glad I had help and was able to get some of the games. There was a freenzy at the sheets and also for the waffle maker, but I didn't want either of those. But if you did miss out on something, like my camera, all you had to do it go to the check out lines or the front of the store , where all the stuff people grabbed and then reality kicked was left.
