Difference is the hard drive size. If someone is a big gamer they would want the bigger one. But the smaller one is fine for occasional gamers and can have memory added to it as well. I have two 4gb systems that I got good deals on and it was cheaper to add the memory than buy the bigger system for the sale I got.

Yes you can play Kinects with the 4gb and yes you can buy a memory card or a external ard drive but you will only need the extra memory for downloading lots of games and downloading extra things for games.As far as just playing games you would buy for the box the 4gb is fine.
