One reason they may have removed the special offers one. You can now get special offers without buying the special offers one. They used to sell it cheaper and allow you to pay the difference to opt out. Now you just select to subscribe to them and you get them. No discount for doing it. I attempted to speak to Amazon about crediting me or price matching. Amazon told me to return my kindle to them (at no cost to me) and buy it where I can find it cheaper.
