hillbillyswife
DD lives with 6 people, all of them are going to their family homes on Christmas Eve but there is one guy that doesnt have anywhere to go. She asked my husband and I if he could stay with us. We have talked about it between ourselves and with our other kids. We figured he could sleep on the couch but the younger girls are scared Santa won't come if he is in the living room. Ugh don't know what to do but i don't feel right about anyone beinging alone on Christmas either I would also have to have a few gifts for him to open and a stocking What are your thoughts? PerkynPunctual
I think it's a sweet thing to do. I would tell the younger ones that Santa told you of course he would still come - that he has a special place in his heart for people who share the Christmas spirit! Deal Grabber
I agree with above poster.I would also tell the kids that Santa would want you to share your house on Christmas with someone less fortunate than them.
conj
Oh ya, Santa will come, as long as the guy is asleep. We've spent the night by the tree to try to "catch santa" (or any kids sneaking down) and notice that Santa NEVER comes until after we've fallen asleep. Huh. :) Speaking as the person who never had family to go to during college, and was often with friends, your gestures will be appreciated. I say do it. Buckeye Shopper
I think it's great that you would welcome someone into your home for Christmas. I hate the thought of anyone spending Christmas alone. I would tell your kids NOTHING can stop santa. He has ways of delivering presents no matter what the circumstances are. Geesh..he manages to come into homes with no fireplaces, and braves blizaards when even planes can't fly. A college kid on the couch surely isn't going to stop him. I would have something special for him to open at least, can't have santa forgetting him. tinkrbel
I think it would be lovely of your family to welcome him. I studied abroad for a few years and the Christmases I had invitations were always a little nicer. It's kind of sad that I've all but lost touch with such good friends.
