id say check your store. there are a few within a half hour of my house and one is not doing layaway on black friday but the other im going to be near is :) wonder if i could put the 360 with kinect and gift card on layaway?

Are they going to be open all day and night? Isn't the XBox 360 w/kinect on sale at 10 PM? So I doubt that there would be any left by the time layaway opened

I work for Walmart and layaway WILL be open. The decision was made yesterday. As I posted earlier, the opening is 8AM BF local time. If you want to put something on layaway that goes on sale at 10PM Thursday or 12 midnight Friday you will have to "babysit" it in your cart until 8AM. If you call your local store and you're told layaway will NOT be open ask the associate to check the updated FAQ section about layaway which is ONLY accessible to associates.

I'm going to check with my store then :) this makes me all sorts of excited.

I work for Walmart too, and it is true. Our manager told us at the morning meeting that it came down in an email yesterday. So the schedule has to be updated, for about the 3rd time, to now have coverage in layaway. The assistant manager who is in charge of making the schedule for that day is about to pull her hair out from all the changes coming down.

I for one would NOT want to be working at WM on BF, neither would I want to be a customer standing in the Layaway line. I think most associates should get a pat on the back for doing this job, it has to be very tiresome and with little praise. It will help ALOT of people to have layaway, so they are helping alot of people afford presents (and also hide them for awhile).

I won't be using it at all. If some people need to get things at the lowest absolute price, and they need to do it on layaway they will either hang out, or have a buddy come relieve them. THanks for the news, I'll pass the info on to my friends I know use layaway :)

Not just the lines, but is it worth it getting there before 10 pm and then waiting until 8 in the morning to put something on layaway? That's 10 hours in Walmart that you're not shopping at any other store. What is worth that?

Yeah I was wondering that too. This is when multiple people comes in handy. I think I might ask my dad to park his butt at Wal-mart and watch a cart while my mom and I run off and shop at other places. I'll then try to get back before 8 AM to take over.

Their ad states 'All in this ad are available in limited quantities. Sorry, no rainchecks or Layaway'. It doesn't say layaway won't be open, but it leans toward saying you won't be able put stuff on layaway thats in the ad? That remains to be seen.

I agree. Plus everything has to be picked up by the 16th. Not much time between BF and then. Doesn't make much sense.....well besides maybe not having to hide stuff at home for as long.

If you get another paycheck or two by that date then it makes perfect sense to put it a larger item or more stuff on layaway.

Do any of the employees on this board have any info regarding layaway restrictions for black friday deals in toys, electronics, and fine jewelry?

Very true !!! I work for the school system and we won't get paid or our bonus until Nov 29th. Although, me personally didn't plan on this, I went ahead and saved, it will help :)

Sounds like a ploy to get people to buy more than they can afford. It would be much easier and faster to put it on a credit card anyway.

Credit Cards is worse than using layaway. At least if you can't afford what you put on layaway all you lose it 10.00 and the 5.00 fee. When you put it something on a credit card you have to pay interest if you don't get it paid for in the specified amount of time. If you can't afford the payments then you have to pay interest charges plus late fees and it goes on your credit report. I think I'll stick with layaway.

I really hope that this is true for BF items also. If so, then I can definitely hang out until 8 so I can put the Xbox 360 on layaway and the PS3 on layaway.

If you find out you can't afford it using a credit card then you just return the item and get the money back. It would be in the return window timeframe making the comparison to layaway. And bettter yet, you won't lose the fee they charge for layaway.

But not all people have credit cards or want them...

I talked with someone that works in photo lab today about the layaway. She said she wasn't sure but went and asked someone that works layaway. They said that it will open at 8 or 9 at our store and that stuff in the BF ad will not be eligible. So that kind of makes me not care if their layaway is open or not..lol. It looks like I will still take some of my business to Kmart.

Easier now that sounds like a ploy from a credit card company. In our household credit cards are the equivalent to the devil. Third time paying off the boogers. There will not be another in our household period.

Now I don't plan on using layaway but I can understand where some would want to use it.
