Brad Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 Story: http://www.businessinsider.com/citi-data-points-to-modest-holiday-sales-2011-10?op=1 Some highlights: 62% of shoppers expect to shop on Black Friday this year, up from 54% last year and 49% in 2009. 45% of shoppers expressed concerns over the economy that would influence their spending this year, up from 38% the last 2 years. 64% of shoppers said they needed discounts between 30% and 50% to justify buying something, up from 54% last year Thoughts? If these hold true, you guys will have a bit more company while out shopping on BF this year compared to the last few years.
Iliveforblckfri Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 I don't think the discounts will be high enough for people who haven't shopped before to be out at early hours. On the other hand, I know we grow every year so it will be interesting to see what BF brings.
jellybean051901 Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 As long as I am first in line I dont care who joins us:yup:
Rockfordmom Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 Story: http://www.businessinsider.com/citi-data-points-to-modest-holiday-sales-2011-10?op=164% of shoppers said they needed discounts between 30% and 50% to justify buying something, up from 54% last year I disagree with that statistic, it doesn't make any sense. to justify buying something they weren't going to buy at all? or something that was on their list? if my kids wanted an elmo doll and that elmo doll wasn't ever on sale but on bf it was 25% off at Target I would buy it. I wish everything I bought on bf was 50% off! I don't think everyone knows the percentage off they are getting, I think most people just know that they are getting something at a great price or that they won't be able to get it at that price any other day. If a bunch of stores open at midnight as predicted, I wonder how many people will be willing to give up their Thanksgiving evenings and naps to get in lines earlier than before?
