I need to buy 3 ipods, 2 dsis, 2 laptops and 1 3dsi. will the sales for these items be worth it on bf like major deals or shall i just buy now and spend the extra few $? I remember last bf that tru had ipods with $50 so I'm hoping they'll have the same this bf but I don't know I can count on it. I know laptops are flexible but I'm shopping by myself this year, probably with a baby. What are your thoughts? Thanks

It is so hard to decide when to buy. I am still kicking myself that I did not buy the Wii a few weeks ago when Amazon had the $40 gift card. I think last year there were some other offers of gift card with ipods before BF. I would keep watching until you see some kind of offer that is close to what you would see on BF.

iPod: there will only be with a gift card offer, it won't be that much cheaper.

Laptop: If you see a spec'ed out laptop you like NOW, in the price range you want, go ahead and get it. I don't like buying laptops on BF - I don't think it's worth it. The cheap ones they put out are not the greatest quality machines out there, and for 50 to 100 dollars more, you can get a more stable machine.

I know nothing about the DSi.

thanks so much! I think I'll buy now. While the $50 gc tru was offering last bf for the ipod were good it didn't make me want to go out and wait in line for 1 $50 gc. Now I think I;ll buy it, put away some extra cash and I can buy a new ipod for bf and then return the other one if I feel like the day after:) Thus keeping the $50 gcs if it's the same this year? I just want a cheap netbook or laptop for dd and myself. I had a $199 netbook I purchased bfore bf 2 yrs ago from target that lasted almost 2 yrs. Did well. I want something of the same for dd. DSI's I saw someone said the ds lite would be $50 on bf? They're $150 on amazon.com now! How would they price break them $100?

DSI and DS Lite are different systems. I read somewhere that Nintendo is discontinuing the DS Lite. (Not sure if that is true or not, but sounds about right with the new 3DS just out this year). Still, I don't expect to see them drop to $50.00, even on BF. Watch TRU sale papers. They recently had the 3DS with a free game. That saves you around $40.00 depending on the game you choose. Nintendo recently price dropped the 3DS to $169.99

I would honestly wait on the ipod. Last year a ton of stores had giftcard with purchase. My best friend got one from Target in DEcember with a 40 or 50 dollar giftcard. As far as the 3ds, If you find a good deal I would buy now because they might be REALLY hard to find later. AS far as a ds or dsi, Im almst certain they will put that on sale in walmart ( they have the past 2 years or so). Laptops n netbooks I know nothing about except that I need a good one and dont know nearly wenough about specs..lol

I agree, with the competition there is now, there is no guarantee you will get what you want especially doubles. I bought 2 laptops in July for my kids, they were better than the ones offered on BF last year and the price was comprable. As for ipods, Have you tried the refurbished ones from apple. I bought a refurbished ipad and ipod from them and had no problems. I also got my son a refurbished nook with out problems. Most refurbs have the same guarantee and are a lot cheaper than the sale price. The nice thing about refurbs are they are gone over individually. Not directly off the assembly line where 1 in 1000 are tested. Saying that I would be hesitant of buying a refurbished phone.

The ds lite was price dropped to $99 a few months back, but I suspect this system is being discontinued. I asked about it on the tech forum, but didn't get a response. (they are nearly impossible to find online for the lower price, and most stores seem to no longer have them in stock) The dsi is the next system up, and is currently $149. Last year the ds lites were $129, and I remember we got one for our daughter for $89, which would lead me to believe you'll be able to find a deal on the dsi system this year.

For the ipod with gift card deals, are these only in store or can you get the deal online? I'm looking to get an ipod for my husband, but since I'll either be extremely pregnant or have a newborn come BF, I'll be doing all my shopping online.

As one who actually gets the chance to see most of the laptops, be advised that so many variables exist from store to store and what they are offering, that statements like that are to be considered highly speculative at best, but can and do happen. We have had some high quality laptops come out of BF sales fairly consistently.

The $199 emachines from Walmart has held up for me pretty well. I bought my son and I both one on Black Friday almost 2 years ago and both still work great. So far no problems with either one.

They also have one for 79.00

Where did u see that?

Here is a link to it. It is a refurb and has Windows CE on it. My cousin bought one of them, and I set it up for her. It runs extremely slow, freezes up constantly, and she doesn't get a very good wifi signal on it. I would not recommend it at all.

If I remember correctly, I think Amazon dropped the price on their iPod touches last year to be the same price after the gift card (so a $25 discount), which I thought was a much better deal.

walmart has a netbook for 198. Is it any good? http://www.walmart.com/ip/Acer-AOD257-13478/16560719 looking for my dd and one for myself that's just basic, nothing big.

I wouldn't buy that only because the memory is too low. You need at least 1gb. Most people upgrade their netbook to 2gb and they say that it runs better and faster. I picked up the one that is $228, the Acer AOD257-13473. It has pretty good reviews, but since it is a Christmas present for my daughter, I can't personally tell you how good it is.

I started shopping for my kids 2 weeks ago. The problem I ran into last year was not finding the right price, it was finding it in stock. I bought the DS Lite for two of my kids and they were $99. They are discontinued so it was very hard to find them, back in June they officially dropped the price to $99 so don't pay more than that. I couldn't find them online, I found one in Walmart and one in Target. As far as the DSI and the 3D one I think they will probably have bundle offers and gift cards, but the price might not drop that much. I saw that a lot last year. The same thing with the Ipods. I would look at the refurbished ones, I bought a refurbished ipod touch last year to replace one that I bought in the store that broke after 6 months. Buy refurbished whenever you can, I've never had problems with anything refurbished that I've ever bought. Hope this helps.

Another thing for all those who are waiting to buy things on Black Friday, just remember that if you wait you might come up empty handed. So at least buy the item before Black Friday and see if you can get a price match or buy another one and return the first one. Two is better than none.

Windows CE is not worth it on any netbook; it is essentially the OS for their phones...I am not surprised that your cousin has problems with it.

Yeah, me either. I warned her not to buy it, but she said she just wanted something to check her e-mail on while she was on vacation. My 13 year old described it correctly when he said it as a low tech doorstop.

There will tons of deals prior to BF, but BF is the biggest push to get customers in. I always wait till BF for any electronic purchases. As far as the Ipods, like Freesia39 said, they never go on sale but they will have gift cards for Itunes with it usually. Apple has in their sales agreement with anyone that sells their product that they can not sell it for under the price Apple tells them to sell it at.
