KC-Traderbear
I know nothing about netbooks, but am thinking about getting one for my 10 year old daughter. Is there a certain model that stands head and shoulders above the rest? What do I need to look for? Any ideas?
Scanner420
I went to Target when the Acer was on sale and the clerk said it was good, but it was limited to what it could do. He actually recommended talking to Dell and building a laptop to your own specs! That way you can upgrade as your kid grows and take packages out, like MS Office, because kids wouldn't use them just yet! .
Jen8112
Whatever you do don't fall for the cheap $80-100 Sylvanya netbook. Trust me. :)
ejpoeta
we got the acer from target. the netbooks are great if you have wifi and a network you can share stuff. they don't have a cd rom or dvd player or anything on them. i guess it just depends on what you want it for. my husband has a netbook and loves it. i have a regular desktop pc with external with all the files on it and he can access them through our network. SevsOnlyGirl
I bought a Dell Latitude - it's got a rugged rubberized cover and a light on the outside of the top so when the child is online you can see at a glance. :) I didn't pay for Office as I just got it with Linux (which I like better). It's wonderful!
