peppysfireball Posted November 15, 2010 Posted November 15, 2010 Be careful. I bought polaroid 2 dvd theater system a few years ago and they open outwards. The latch broke on mine 3 times and on the two i bought my son 2 times. All are now broken. My son just bought himself a portable dvd player and carries it in the car with him now and it's lasted 2 years.
emilygracesmom Posted November 15, 2010 Posted November 15, 2010 Yes. Take a look at the Black Friday ads.
cbtlab Posted November 16, 2010 Posted November 16, 2010 so who has them on black friday and what is special about the ones that go in the car. Can any have a charger that plugs into cig lighter or do that have batteries in them im a grandma of a 2 yr old and looking for one for my car to keep her company so grandma can go somewhere with her!!!! :-)
peppysfireball Posted November 16, 2010 Posted November 16, 2010 The ones that go in the car are usually more shock resistant, but any of them will work. Mine had headrests fasteners and they just wrapped around the headrest with the screen on top . My son't portable one he uses now opens up and he just carries it with him, but they make car cases they will fit in. Most all of the charges are universal, I've had to buy several and they are all interchangeable.
deskjockey Posted November 16, 2010 Posted November 16, 2010 I have an Axion one with dual screens for th car. Ads far as I know it is the only one where you don't have to climb in the back to change the DVD or press play. There is a separate box that I sit next to the front seats to load, press play, pause, FF etc. They are no longer sold in stores or on Amazon but you can order it from Axion directly. IMO it is worth it. My 3.5 yr olds are NOT getting out of their seat to change a DVD and neither am I.

We have a dual screen one I bought at walmart .... many moons ago that works like that. it was one of the BEST investments we've made! now that the kids are older, the unit goes in the back seat, and they can control it, but for many years we kept it up front.
lynchbaby Posted November 16, 2010 Author Posted November 16, 2010 are te ones for cars called any different from the regular portable dvd players?
mabennett Posted November 16, 2010 Posted November 16, 2010 i just bought the princess a 9 inch at Best Buy for 79.xx. we have the headmounted one but the princes don't really care about watching dora on a 9 hour car trip. i bought a carrier thing for the back of the seat so that she doesn't have to hold it. i thought 79.xx for a 9 inch was a steal. we can also use this in the house if we need to.
peppysfireball Posted November 16, 2010 Posted November 16, 2010 are te ones for cars called any different from the regular portable dvd players? No, they are all portable dvd players as they will all work, you j ust have to decide what type you want.
ourhappyfamily4 Posted November 16, 2010 Posted November 16, 2010 last year we bought the dual screen dvd players for the car, and both sets that we got from walmart just would not work. All they done was click click click and never load. This year we are going to try walmart again, but go with buying 2 portable dvd players instead of the dual screen type. walmart has them on sale this year for 49.99 ( i think thats the correct price) I think I also saw them on sale in the toys r us black friday sale paper for the same price. Maybe even one other store?
heatherbade Posted November 21, 2010 Posted November 21, 2010 They have one at Walmart on BF for $49.99. They have those everywhere on BF.
