Big Smooth
Well, the original hard drive from my Dell EPP 8250 (anyone remember that deal?) finally crapped out on me. I need a good ol' fashioned internal IDE hard drive to replace it. I don't need anything fancy or even very large (I keep my HD cleaned out as much as possible; I never filled up the old one @ 60GB), just something CHEAP, of course! :) I was also considering a DVD burner. I saw RossMAN mention the $40 black NEC drive at NewEgg in another thread. I assume this is a pretty good deal?
joonshin
yeah any dvd burner for around $40 is a good deal to me.
mrn8
NEC DVD BurnerYeah, it's a hell of a deal. No software comes with the drive, though, as far as I can tell. I know you can find Nero very cheap if you do a quick search. How's this for a hard drive? 80GB Maxtor for $55.50 + $2.99 shipping.

Big Smooth
Thanks for the tips. I'll probably keep an eye on the local Fry's and other ads but it seems like all you find in there these days are the really big hard drives. The Maxtor at NewEgg is a decent fallback if I can't find something cheaper that's at least 80GB.

Not sure how much shipping is, though...
RossMAN
Andy, It's nearly impossible these days to find a hard drive smaller than 80GB, 120GB seems to be the norm. I was at Fry's on Monday where they had a Seagate 200GB for $59 after $50 rebates. At least it had a 5 year warranty which is nice. Otherwise keep an eye on NewEgg.com or even try Craigslist where you can get a used HD for cheap

I'll check out Fry's to see what they've got.

If you don't mind the $50 rebate, it's a pretty killer deal considering the 5 year warranty.

(If anyone is still looking)...A better choice might be the 120GB Seagate at Best Buy this week for $29.99 AR, especially considering the warranty differential (1 year - Western Digital v 5 years - Seagate).
