I am very exciting to be expecting my second daughter in October. She should arrive the very last week of Oct. (scheduled c-section) . I had a c-section with my fist and know what the recover is like. I hope I feel up to shopping by black friday! What do you think my chances are of being up going out that soon after giving birth?

Did you recover easily from your first ceasection. I would not have had any trouble if it had not gotten infected. My daughter was also born in October but she was born early in the month on the 10th. But my recovery was long because it did get infected and also when they gave me my epidural it hit a nerve and it messed up the feeling in my feet for a while. I was able to go BF shopping but I only went to Walmart bc it is our only local store, everything else is at least 1 1/2 hours away.

Good luck and I hope you have a speedy recovery.

I was in the same situation last year only I didn't have a c-section. DD was due 10/28 but didn't show until 11/4. I was breast feeding so there was no way I could leave her and there was no way I was taking her out into the madness so I just online shopped last year.

I did it two years ago, my dd was born c section end of oct she was my 3rd all of them were c section so I knew what to expect in the recovery. I was out shopping I did oversleep however (baby not sleeping and remodling carpet got laid that day so we were up really late shoulda just stayed up) But it was so worth it! I took her with me for a few hours then my grandma who lives in the same town that we were shopping in watched her till we got done.

My son was born 10/24 and I was up and at 'em for BF. Of course I delivered vaginally so I suppose a C-section might take a little longer. I also breastfed, but that is what a pump is for :-) I just expressed a little extra the week before and left bottles of it for my DH. Besides, I fed him before I left and that bought me at least 3 hours. I figured it would be worse for me to be home frustrated and disappointed at missing the big day...mom's need their time too. If you feel up to it, go and don't let anyone make you feel guilty!

Not pregos here - but I do have health issues - so last year we tag teamed it... The family all got together on Thanksgiving and marked out our plans - I stayed by the phone and internet shopped for what everyone else couldn't get in the stores... worked out GREAT - as a matter of fact - I had about 1/2 of their shopping done on-line before the stores ever opened! (They are ALL pitching in to buy me deluxe coffee to keep me awake to shop online again this year... LOL) - but, hey - shopping in your pjs, not fighting the crowds and watching Christmas Movies on TV while you shop on the internet ain't so bad! ;)

I'll be 3-4 wks pp this year, too...not going BF shopping this year. :( I'll be playing online, though, for sure! I've been whacked (and nearly knocked down) with enough shopping carts that I just don't think it's a good idea at all, especially post c-section. If the stores you're going to are less, uh, hostile ;) than mine, then go for it! My area is a bit cutthroat, though.

I can't speak for myself as all 3 of mine were natural, but my niece had a c section 4 days ago and yesterday she had her 3 year old and her new baby and was out walking all over town. I can't see recovery being that long.

My concern would be not so much your physical condition ( c section too and was racing down the hall to get the baby from the nursery :) ) However, I wonder if the lack of sleep a new born can impose would be not a great mix. I know by week 2 after DS arrived, I was OUT OF MY MIND with tiredness.

I couldn't have done it, even with a natural birth. At least, not without bringing baby with(I breastfed my children)

I breastfed both of my children, and BF 2008 is the SINGLE ONLY time my (now 2 year old) took a bottle. He was 3 months though.

I didn't get to go out BF 2006 however...because I was giving birth to my first son. lol...
