dealluvr Posted May 13, 2010 Posted May 13, 2010 i am taking a trip later this year(nothing big, just a day trip) and i want a digital camera.i want all the extras i can get. lowest price possible. i like to look at the bundles where you get a lot of stuff with it i wont have time really to just sit and look til the weekend thanks
Marcster Posted May 13, 2010 Posted May 13, 2010 Lowest price possible is still a wide range. Under $100? Under $200? Between $400 - $500? Do you want a pocketable camera? A mid-sized point and shoot? A bridge camera? (those have a larger body and bigger zoom lenses) Do you plan to print your photos? If so, what's the maximum size you envision printing? 8"x10"? 18"x24"? etc.
dealluvr Posted May 14, 2010 Author Posted May 14, 2010 (edited) sorry under $100 pocket size camera i will print probably mostly 3x5 nothing fancy just like a regular camera a camera as simple as possible also wondering if these camera bundles at walmart are any good o rshould i look for something better. if it is a good name it doesnt matter where i buy it right? mgmckny Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 Lots of good choices out there, I like the Nikon point and shoots but I have a 10mp kodak that I've had for several years. I know everyone puts down Kodak but I've had good luck with them and have several in the family. My original one was a little 5 mp model that was passed down a couple of years ago to a younger family member with a new baby and it's still in use also. My own personal desire is for an Olympus pen camera the EPL-1 I think, small body but interchangeable lenses. I wanted 35mm one before digital came out and they weren't even being made anymore in that format. Just don't have 600 bucks to put into one. Maybe when I hit my ultimate weight loss goal it will be my reward...
dealluvr Posted May 14, 2010 Author Posted May 14, 2010 (edited) office max had one for under $100 and it came with a little gadget to develop pics right then and there.is this crap or would it be worth looking into? http://www.officemax.com/catalog/sku.jsp?productId=prod2870477 Edited May 14, 2010 by dealluvr add
mgmckny Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 Not familiar with the Polaroids but I've seen the printer and it looks interesting but the size might be limiting. I tend to use my printer at home or lately been uploading to Walgreens and picking up in store...With coupons it has been cheaper than buying the photopaper.

Even without the cost of photopaper, it's the ink cost that gets ya every time! A cheap printer like the one with the Polaroid camera probably has all of the colors in one cartridge and if you run out of one color, you need to replace the whole thing. I betcha the color ink for it costs $50. dealluvr -- check out Newegg.com and Amazon.com. Cross reference with reviews from objective sources, like Cnet.com.

That's why I've started uploading and having them done elsewhere. I used to have the kodak dock/printer but unless you were doing the entire 10 pack at one time, the ink cart would dry out so I always had paper left...If I have to print at home now I used my officejet or the photosmart printer ( which can also do other regular print jobs...).
dealluvr Posted May 15, 2010 Author Posted May 15, 2010 wow i didnt think of the ink issue. thanks for all help
