BellaVita Posted March 13, 2010 Posted March 13, 2010 I am assuming she goes to the doctor reguarly? There are special shoes that should be covered for medical purposes they are around 200 bucks.
skytrain Posted March 13, 2010 Posted March 13, 2010 I have heel spurs and the RN wherei work says I should try New Balance sneakers. I haven't tried them yet. Maybe they will work for her too.
Mandy25 Posted March 13, 2010 Posted March 13, 2010 I really like my new pair of Shape Ups by skeechers. They are very comfy and are made to be walked in. I don't have near the knee pain had before. And I can feel it in my legs and rear when I walk.
rgumidrop35 Posted March 13, 2010 Posted March 13, 2010 My mother is also diabetic and very over weight. She also has knee problems and her doctor recomended she try ZCoil shoes. They are ugly but they really keep her moving.
mysschevous Posted March 13, 2010 Posted March 13, 2010 I saw some new Dr. Scholl's shoe inserts at Wal Mart today. They are supposed to help a lot. They are $50 a pair, but have a money back guarantee. I bought a pair, and so did DH. Hopefully they are good. :)
jbrawn26 Posted March 29, 2010 Posted March 29, 2010 zappos and shoebuy have shoes that are covered by medicaid for diabetes so you might want to try there they're around 115 a pair and up
debbha Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 I have also had some very good luck with footsmart.com. Some of the same shoes as zappos and others. Their customer service is very good. I don't know if you have an SAS shoe store close to you. My mom also finds some wide width shoes there. Some of them are pretty expensive, but so are most diabetic shoes. Another option is to check to see if her doctor's office has podiatry services that sell those types of shoes. HTH.
