mywarmbluefleece Posted January 30, 2010 Posted January 30, 2010 I really need to cover up this horrible window in my classroom. It is 35 inches by 35 inches. I can't find any curtains with lengths around that. Does anyone know where to go?
Stowasser Posted January 30, 2010 Posted January 30, 2010 well there are some options, take one panel that is usually 59x84 or maybe even 64" long and shorten it to necessary size by cutting it off around 40" or so, then sew the hem of 5", usually I turn the bottom inch over then over again to create the hem. Then all you would have to do is install a rod either tension or cafe rod if going on the inside of the window or rod on the outside then you can just hang it. Usually to create a full looking curtain, rule of thumb is 2 1/2 times so if the window was 20" wide, need a curtain that is 50" wide to create a nice full pleating effect but one panel probably would do on this size window. You could also install a window blind, you would just need one that could fit, most blinds fit 1/2" smaller or bigger then the size on the box for width. You can shorten a blind so there isn't all that weight at the bottom
speeddiva Posted January 30, 2010 Posted January 30, 2010 Wow, where are you looking? 36" is a standard window measurement so you should be able to find them anywhere....Just google 36 x 36 curtains and you'll get a ton of pages. I know Walmart & Target has that size instore too.
dealluvr Posted January 30, 2010 Posted January 30, 2010 i would get a piece of burlap and a window rod those small skinny ones they lay on hooks on each side of the window anyway get a piece of burlap and fold it over at one end put the rod thru it and hang. then like every week you can pin papers to it from a certain kid like showcasing that kids work for the week
mywarmbluefleece Posted January 30, 2010 Author Posted January 30, 2010 I looked at Target and Big Lots. I hate Walmart and its not close but that may be my next destination.
mywarmbluefleece Posted January 31, 2010 Author Posted January 31, 2010 I found a 36 inch long one at Bed Bath and Beyond. I knew it was a standard size but i just couldnt find it
