jeninpa Posted December 20, 2009 Posted December 20, 2009 I got 3 of my 4 kids large gifts but DD13 can't think of anything for me to get her!!! I got everything she wanted almost but it is all small things, the largest was Karaoke Revolution for $45! I need 1 bigger item that costs around $100 to even things out. We have 2 Wii's, she has a DS, a DSi, a PS2 w/all the Singstars, we have 2 XBox 360's in the house, she has a TV and DVD player, we have a trampoline......I am just lost!! DS14 is getting a 32" flat screen DD10 is getting a fouton DS6 is getting a 12.1" netbook (the older 3 already have laptops) I would like it to be something that will be used almost on a daily basis or atleast often, lol.
HansieDZ Posted December 20, 2009 Posted December 20, 2009 I will say that you have some lucky kids :) About the only things I can think of that you don't mention she has already.... iPod (the Nanos are around $100) portable dvd players (those have come way down in price though) cell phone portable digital tvs Rockband 2 digital camera (I know the DSi is a camera, but is it a good one? idk) Flip video camera actual musical instrument (e.g. guitar) Good luck. I'm still not done shopping for my crew yet but I still have a few days left to panic

I'm still not done shopping for my crew yet but I still have a few days left to panic She has a regular iPod and she isn't very responsible with it,lol. She has a portable DVD player....never uses it. She has a cell phone with unlimited everything...never remembers to take it with her & we have no service here. Not sure about a portable TV...I will look into that! We have Rockband (1st one) and it has been played all of about 3 times, lol. I thought about a camera too but with how forgetful and clumsy she is (she has ADD & a few other minor issues, lol) I think she would break it or lose it if she even remembered it,lol. I thought about getting her a large Casio keyboard but she has just never shown in interest in music other than singing, lol. Thanks for all the great suggestions though!! They are making me think anyway! lol
jendeere Posted December 20, 2009 Posted December 20, 2009 What about a gift card to Aero or somewhere? My 11 yo loves getting gc's and picking things out herself. Concert tickets for you and her? Since she likes singing what about a karaoke machine?
amyers12345 Posted December 20, 2009 Posted December 20, 2009 What about an Aerie GC and a promise of a shopping trip? Most 13 YO girls would love to go clothes shopping! A keyboard or guitar might just spark her interest in music. Make sure you grab a DVD course or a book so that she can try to test the waters on her own before she commits to lessons. What about a room makeover? New comforter/sheets and some cute piece of furniture?

Concert tickets for you and her? Since she likes singing what about a karaoke machine?I already got her a Club Penguin GC & a Fusion Fall gift card and she is not much of a clothes person....she wears what is comfortable and could care less what it is,lol. We had a karaoke machine & tossed it after we never used it anymore since she has all the Singstar, American Idol & Karaoke Revolution games that exist, lol. A concert I would have to take DD10 or the guilt would kill me! lmao What about an Aerie GC and a promise of a shopping trip? Most 13 YO girls would love to go clothes shopping! What about a room makeover? New comforter/sheets and some cute piece of furniture? She is a TomBoy! lmao The only thing she would want to shop for would be a horse, lol. I might get her a mini one for her birthday to keep her pygmy goat company, lol. We are actually moving soon to a huge house so they are getting room makeovers in February. I am doing hers brown/blue & DD10's pink/brown,lol. I finally just bought her a bike. Hers is only a 24" & I remembered her complaining the brakes didn't work right anyway, lol. Thanks everyone for helping me think!!! It honestly didn't come to me until I was saying everything she did have when I realized even though she had a bike it was junk! lmao I feel sooooo much better!!! DH doesn't get his bonus check until the Friday before Christmas so it is always rush rush finishing up!!!
amyers12345 Posted December 20, 2009 Posted December 20, 2009 I'm glad you figured it out! As a tomboy, here's my list (for future reference): more boots saddle TPX Slugger bat Adidas Aswego running shoes pitching machine batting cage (yes, I've been BEGGING!) Berne Coat (carhartt-type) My Carhartt is CRAP! did I mention more boots? I just bought a new bicycle, but I want a cushy seat and a cool water bottle.

HansieDZ Posted December 20, 2009 Posted December 20, 2009 I'm glad you thought of getting her a new bike--that will be perfect! Merry Christmas from one tomboy to another
sorayay Posted December 20, 2009 Posted December 20, 2009 How about a chi flat iron? or a vanity for her room? Those things are nice for girls who are just starting to care about how they look and boys. The only other thing I can think of in that price range that hasn't been listed is concert tickets...
ShoppingChick13 Posted December 20, 2009 Posted December 20, 2009 I read that you decided on a gift for her, but thought I would add some suggestions just in case anyone else needs some. :) Uggs Indoor/Outdoor Slippers! DH gave me the Cozy II for my birthday ($90) and I LOVE them! I have the Classic Tall boots and the Bailey Button boots and I LOVE them too, but sometimes they are too warm and the Cozy II slippers are so YUMMY!!! Cozy IIhttp://www.uggaustralia.com/ProductDetails.aspx?gID=w&productID=5614&model=Cozy+II A nice pair of hiking boots or even a North Face Denali jacket. I LOVE my down vest by GoLite, I'm not sure if the ladies x small would fit her, but I know that Patagonia and North Face have young lady versions. These pieces are nice looking, but also very practical for a tomboy! They keep her warm and looking cute! I wear mine out shopping and out hiking and haven't "worn them out" yet! She has curly hair & hates it although it seems more wavy than curly now that she is older.
