My daughter is begging to have her 6th Bday at Build a Bear! AAGGHH-

it does look cute and sounds pretty easy.

BUT it would be like $120 for 6 kids...(no food included)

Does anyone know of any current coupons that I could use?

There used to be a Bday kid gets their stuff free coupon last year...

Why are you paying so much???

The website says

http://www.buildabear.com/help/partyQuestions.aspx

How much is a Build-A-Party?

YOU set the price, starting at just $10 per Guest!

Your Guests can select an undressed animal priced from $10 to $25, then choose optional outfits and accessories (additional $3 – $15) to pawsonalize it even more! You only pay for the furry friends and fashions your Guests take home.

Just tell your pawsonal party planner what you’d like to spend and your party leader will ensure that each Guest has a great time while staying within your budget!

I would call Call (toll free) 1-877-789-BEAR (2327)

yes, you are correct that I set the price BUT I looked at what $10 could get you (just the bear) and $15 was bear/t-shirt so I really felt that $20 minumum would get them a SIMPLE outfit- not even all those cool xtras they always want...

So I just dont want any disappointed kids/parents

Minumum kids = 6

so 6 x $20 = 120$

(I would love to just get her bear for free!!!)

It sounds really cute and likely worth the $$- neat that each kid can take things home.

of course this is no food/cake, etc.... so that will be xtra $ also!

NEEDING A DEAL/COUPON!!!

BTW, has anyone experienced one of these: good or bad???

I've done the party. We only took 4 children total so didn't schedule with them. The kids had a blast, the help in store was awful and I way over spent what I had planned.

When I sent the invitations I noted how much each child would get to spend and told parents they could send extra if they chose but it wasn't required. All kids brought $10 to $20 extra, except one girl, so I ended up paying a bit more so she had a nice animal too.

Long story short, it was a terrible visit but that was just due to really bad employees and BAB sent me a gift certificate when I complained. I'd do the party again, but never at the store we visited and I'd be more firm in the limit I would spend on each child.

I saw a link for a coupon at Justice.com last night too.

Build a bear parties are awesome! The store we always go to has the best employees who make the kids feel so special. I recently took the kids and let them each make one and pick out an outfit, plus they made one for grandma who was in the hospital. 4 bears with one outfit each was $120. I let them pick their bears out though, and only one chose a $10 bear. Something to think about is that the kids you take probably aren't going to want the $10 bear, they will want one of the cuter more expensive ones. So if you plan on only buying the cheap bears you will have to tell them in advance or something.

If you don't want to spend the money, is it possible for you to just take your own child and maybe 1 friend and just have a cake and ice cream party with everyone else?

We did a Build a Bear party and I thought it was a great experience. I set my limit and told the employees. They help the kids stay within the price range. The parents that wanted to buy their kids more stuck around and did so. I had been saving my $10 rewards, grant it their birthday is after Christmas, and I think we only paid like $26 out of pocket for the party. I also had a few coupons. Our experience was positive! Good luck!
