lincolndog
I am thinking this may be a great idea for my elderly parents. Does anyone use them or have you seen them on sale?
backinny
I've had a Roomba for many years and love, love,LOVE it. It is so convienent and if there is ever a problem with the machine Roomba's customer service is fantastic. I saw one advertised in a recently posted Black Friday ad for $99. It may have been Kohl's, but I'd have to look it up. Hope this help!
MarkdownQueen
I am thinking this may be a great idea for my elderly parents. Does anyone use them or have you seen them on sale?My DH bought me a Roomba last year, it was on of my Christmas presents. The model I have is the 535 model. I love my Roomba it is awesome and have not had any problems with it. I wouldn't recommend it for elderly people because there is some upkeep. I clean mine before each use and you have to take out the dust bin and the brushes and filters in order to clean properly. Then you replace them back and the roomba is ready. Initially it took me 30 minutes to figure out how to accomplish all of this. Now it takes me only 5 minutes. For someone elderly it would be very confusing. If you are not diligent with the upkeep it will break. I think that's why mine runs so great, because I take great care of it. Also, another thing that I do everytime I run the Roomba is, I pick up all my chairs of the floor because sometimes it gets caught up between the chair legs. Another thing with roomba's if you have a black rug it will not vacuum over it. I did research prior to getting mine. I also like to keep mine contained in one room until it is cleaned. if not the Roomba will wander everywhere and miss spots. If you do decide to buy one get one, buy one with the home base, whenever the battery is low it will re-dock it's self on the charger. Oh yeah sometimes the Roomba gets stuck on furniture and you have to rescue it, it usually let's out a chime or a different sound. It does pick up everything and I mean everything pet hair, dirt dust it's amazing all the stuff the Roomba picks up. You can find a good deal on the Home Shopping Network @ www.hsn.com. They offer free shipping and if it's your first time buying an additional 15% off. That is where DH purchased mine from. Make sure you research it online if you do buy one, so you can get the best model for the cheapest price. If you have any questions feel free to ask. I am very happy with my Roomba, love it because I can clean another room while it's vacuuming. I re-named mine Roger the Roomba.
lelee24
LOve my Roomba. It does require upkeep, but I think older folks especially would appreciate it! They probably don't have as much dirt as we do anyway since the kids probably don't live at home anymore...LOL! I bought a refurbished Scooba to mop my kitchen for a great price on Amazon and it works as well as my regular Roomba that was bought new. Refurbished is a good way to get it cheaper and they do have a limited warranty.
Jenh1973
We have a Roomba & love it! We use it daily but still break out the big vacuum on the weekend. Just last week our Roomba stopped charging after 3 years of daily used. Even my husband has noticed it's not working. We like ours so much we are looking to buy another.
