Developers at Nintendo have dreamed of creating a simultaneous multiplayer Super Mario Bros. game for decades. The Wii console finally makes that dream come true for everyone this holiday season. Now players can navigate the side-scrolling worlds alone as before or invite up to three others to join them at the same time on the same level at any point in the game for competitive and cooperative multiplayer fun. With the multiplayer mode, the newest installment of the most popular video game franchise is designed to bring yet another type of family entertainment into living rooms and engage groups of friends in fast-paced Super Mario Bros. fun.Features: New Super Mario Bros. Wii offers a combination of cooperation and competition. Players can pick each other up to save them from danger or toss them into it. Mario, Luigi and two Toads are all playable characters, while many others from the Mushroom Kingdom make appearances throughout the game. Players can even ride different Yoshi characters and use their tongues to swallow enemies ? or their fellow players. In some areas, players use the motion abilities of the Wii Remote controller. The first player to reach a seesaw might make it tilt to help his or her character reach a higher platform ? and then tilt it incorrectly just to mess with other players. New items include the propeller suit, which will shoot players high into the sky with just a shake of the Wii Remote and Mario?s new ability to transform into Penguin Mario. At the end of each stage during the simultaneous multiplayer mode, players are ranked based on their score, the coins collected and the number of enemies defeated. jsp2757
Thanks, I keep wondering if I should pre-order this. I would much rather just pick it up the day it comes out but I am afraid it might sell out fast. It looks awesome.

racerfan
Just to let everyone know this game is also being offered by Amazon for $46.99 pre-order and you get $10 for a future video game purchase. For me it is worth more since I dont pay tax or shipping with Amazon whereas I pay tax with Walmart, I dont know about shipping. http://www.amazon.com/New-Super-Mario-Bros-Nintendo-Wii/dp/B002BRZ9G0/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1257123357&sr=1-1 There are several other games for the Wii and other systems on Amazon that can be pre-ordered and they have the credit on future game purchases. Two of them are Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 ($20 credit) and Assassins Creed 2 ($10 credit)
Venusaur
Thanks racerfan that Amazon deal is very tempting. Does the $10 video game credit have an expiration date?
racerfan
Thanks racerfan that Amazon deal is very tempting.Does the $10 video game credit have an expiration date?I think it has to be used by the end of the year, but not sure. The credit wont be sent to you until 2 days after the game is shipped to you, but a pre-ordered game you will receive on release day. I am staggering my orders for pre-orders since I have the $40 coming from Amazon (from the promotion that ended yesterday) will use towards Call of Duty, then the $20 credit from Call of Duty will use for Assassins Creed and the $10 credit from Assassins Creed and the $10 credit from Super Mario I will put towards a DS game for DD Imagine Detective. Then after all that I think I will be done for Video Games (I HOPE)

nancydrew
Thanks for the heads up on the Amazon deal. I used a $5 GC I had from a survey and the $25 GC I got when I ordered the Wii when they had that deal and when you count in the $10 credit for a future game purchase, its almost like getting this game for $6! racerfan
I saw somewhere they made a remote like the old school nintendo remote, but I think either will work. I'm excited about the old remote! That controller is called the classic controller and it is used for a lot of the games that you can download onto the Wii from Nintendo. You can also use the controllers from the Gamecube system since it uses the same plug in. We use the Gamecube controllers sometimes and others we use the classic, its whichever the kids feel like taking out.
