I know its a lil early to talk recipes but with thanksgiving just around the corner what are some of your fav recipes? im looking for good & easy christmas breakfast ideas last yr we switched up from money bread to a casserole but it was too much for that early and it too a while to cook! any ideas? we like sausage balls. Its just a roll of pork sausage, 2 cups of bisquick, and 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese. You mix them all (by hand) and make balls and bake til done. They are so yummy! :)

 

i also love pumpkin rolls! mmmm.....now you got me all christmas-y again! heehee!! :holiday16

WE LOVE walmart pumpkin rolls i meant to check and see if they have them now...i will go tomorrow lol We usally always have one in our house untill they stop selling them lol Also i never thought about sauage balls for christmas morning! thats a great idea! I make them all the time when i have playdates or a party so thats easy and quick! I think i found my answer to what to have! lol I will prob pick up a pumpkin roll for that too!

Non- Alcoholic

 

 

Christmas Passion

 

2 oz cranberry juice

4 oz spiced apple cider

2 thin thin slices of red apple (with skin on)

 

Place one slice of the apple in the bottom of a clear glass. Put 3 ice cubes in glass on top of apple slice to hold it down. Pour liquids in glass over ice. Lay the other slice of apple on top of drink.

 

 

 

Angel's Delight

 

 

1/4 cup whipped cream

5 small scoops of vanilla ice cream

1/2 cup chopped pecans

1/4 cup 7 up or sprite

1 Banana (peeled and cut up) or 1/2 cup cut up strawberries.

 

 

Combine ice cream, pecans, soda, and banana (or strawberries) in blender and blend until smooth. Pour into martini glasses and top with whipped cream :tu

Alcoholic

 

Christmas Cheer ( layered shot)

 

1/2 shot Peppermint Schnapps

1/2 shot Egg Nog

 

First pour Peppermint Schnapps into shot glass and then the Egg Nog (or vice versa which ever way you prefer since this is a layered shot.)

 

 

 

Cranberry Celebration (alcholic or non-alcholic)

 

I serve this one EVERY year during my christmas party cause i can serve it with or without alchol since I have a wide age range and some people just dont drink but they can still get in on our traditional toast.

 

 

 

3oz Cranberry Juice

2oz Orange Juice

Splash of lime cordial

Soda Water or Seltzer

Frozen Cranberries

*Optional 1.5 oz Vodka (gett he good stuff dont skimp on quality please! it makes a differnce in the taste of the drink)

 

Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Combine Cranberry Juice, Orange Juice, splash of Lime Cordial, And vodka (if you are making alcholic verson). Shake well and strain into a collins glass filled with ice cubes. Top off with soda water and place 3 or 4 frozen cranberries on top. Enjoy :tu

 

 

Drunk Santa

 

1/2 oz Vodka

1/2 oz Southern Comfort

1/2 oz Amaretto

1/2 oz Sloe Gin

1/2 oz Triple Sec

3 oz of any sweet Red punch (Hawaiian Punch or Tropicana Strawberry is what I use)

 

Put all into a shaker with ice and mix. Strain into a glass.

Hummin Bird, those drinks sound VERY yummy! After reconnecting with some old friends recently, I think I know what I'LL be taking to our next social event! ;)

 

Here's one I found this past summer and have been waiting for the right season and occasion to try-- I like everything in it, and I think it will be awesome for a holiday "snack day!"

 

Chocolate-Peppermint Cheeseball

 

1 pkg (12 oz) semi-sweet chocolate chips

1 cup peppermint candies (approx. 36 candies)

2 cups pecans

8 oz cream cheese, softened

Process chocolate chips, peppermint candies, and pecans in a blender or food processor until finely ground. Place mixture in an airtight plastic bag or container until ready to use. There will be enough mixture to make several cheese balls.

When ready to make the cheeseball, place cream cheese in a bowl. Remove 1/2 cup of ground candy/nut mixture from its bag and mix into cream cheese. Shape into a ball and wrap in plastic wrap. Refrigerate for at least 2 or 3 hours or until firm. Serve with chocolate flavored vanilla wafers, chocolate graham crackers, etc.

yay, i am glad everyone is going to try the sausage balls! My hubby has been pestering me for them already! I make my pumpkin rolls from scratch. I havent tried the walmart ones! I will have to now! :)

 

here's 2 christmas-y fudge recipes:

Candy Cane Fudge

INGREDIENTS (Nutrition)

2 (10 ounce) packages vanilla baking chips

1 (14 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk

1/2 teaspoon peppermint extract

1 1/2 cups crushed candy canes

1 dash red or green food coloring

 

 

DIRECTIONS

Line an 8 inch square baking pan with aluminum foil, and grease the foil.

Combine the vanilla chips and sweetened condensed milk in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir frequently until almost melted, remove from heat and continue to stir until smooth. When chips are completely melted, stir in the peppermint extract, food coloring, and candy canes.

Spread evenly in the bottom of the prepared pan. Chill for 2 hours, then cut into squares.

Egg Nog Fudge:

INGREDIENTS (Nutrition)

2 cups white sugar

3/4 cup butter

2/3 cup eggnog

2 teaspoons ground nutmeg

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

12 ounces white chocolate, chopped

1 (7 ounce) jar marshmallow cream

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/4 cup chopped walnuts

 

 

 

DIRECTIONS

Grease a 9 inch square pan and set aside.

Combine the sugar, butter, eggnog, nutmeg, and cinnamon in a large saucepan. Bring to a boil, stirring occasionally to melt the butter. Once the mixture reaches a rolling boil, stop stirring, and clip a candy thermometer onto the pan.

Heat mixture to 235 degrees F (113 degrees C), or until a small amount of syrup dropped into cold water forms a soft ball that flattens when removed from the water and placed on a flat surface.

Remove the pan from the heat and stir in the white chocolate pieces, marshmallow cream, vanilla, and walnuts. Beat the mixture with a wooden spoon until fluffy and it starts to lose its gloss. Spoon into the prepared pan, spreading evenly. Cool completely, then cut into small squares for serving.

I'm starting to gather recipes to make goodies for the holiday season that are able to be mailed.

 

So far, we're making:

  • Mint Chocolate Pretzel Bark
  • Chocolate Lollipops
  • (possibly chocolate covered pretzels)

 

I'd really like to include some peanut butter balls. Last year, the recipe I used was just awful. Too dry and too sweet (it called for a crazy amount of powdered sugar).

Does anyone have a really good one that doesn't have to be refridgeratred (except to harden the chocolate briefly)?

We like to use those chocolate melts you can get at Michael's. They harden really well (that's what we use for our lollipops and chocolate covered pretzels). And we're going to use these new chocolate chips for the mint pretzel bark. None look like they'll melt. So I imagine if we use the same chocolate on the outside of the pb balls, they'd be okay.

Yep. But instead of just covering part of the ball to give it the "buckeye" effect, I cover the whole ball.

Blasphemy! You are making fake Buckeyes :no: I believe it is because you are doing it the wrong way you get bad results, you must concede to the Buckeye! :D
