conj Posted October 6, 2009 Posted October 6, 2009 So, online retailers put things in clearance/outlet when they are running low, and not planning on replenishing, or discontinuing items, correct? Why does it matter what zip code they are going to ship to? Why are some things available to be shipped to ... say ... Boston, but not Maine? I'd understand if it was a B&M, but they have to ship it anyway.... can you shed some light on this for me?
JenT1292 Posted October 7, 2009 Posted October 7, 2009 I can't say for sure, but it could depend on where you live and which warehouse it ships from. Our company has multiple warehouses across the country and each warehouse has a particular "zone" they ship to. So if the warehouse in Boston has the items in stock, they may be able to ship it to a customer where as if the warehouse in Chicago is sold out, a customer in IL is out of luck. Hope this makes sense.
conj Posted October 7, 2009 Author Posted October 7, 2009 is zone shipping to keep control on shipping costs?
amyers12345 Posted October 7, 2009 Posted October 7, 2009 Yes, zones do make a difference in shipping costs, although it is slight.
