  1. Time sure is flying, I didn't realize I hadn't posted for September yet! School started about 2 1/2 weeks ago and just seems so different this year. We found out less than a week before the first day that the person we had issues with last year was moving to a different part of the school. Good, yes, but since we're "only" in the cafeteria, there was no rush to replace her. We're always the last thought when it comes to anything in the school. The new hire just started 3 days ago so we were working with our substitutes for 2+ weeks. She seems to be working out well, we'll see. I was promoted to head cook the beginning of last school year and it was a good year. Now this year, the kitchen manager (the same person as last year), has been giving not only me, but the other girls, attitude. I'm always second guessing myself when it comes to decisions because whatever I tell the girls to do, the manager always tells them to do the opposite. I'm always in tears, both in the walk-in cooler and at home. I've been working in the cafeteria 11 years (substituted for 7 years before that) and have always gotten along with her. My problem is that I can't speak my mind, I'm always afraid I'm going to offend someone or make things worse. If I say anything, then the attitude will really come out. The manager has been there not quite 30 years (thinking about retirement), I'm starting my 12th and then everyone else has been there less than 2-3 years. We just can't get people to stay and a lot of it is the manager, it's been said by many of the previous employees who had quit, because of her control issue. There's so much more I could go into but won't. I didn't mean to even get into it as much as I did. Anyway, Happy September!!!
  2. Well, work day tomorrow and back to school on Wednesday. It doesn't look like it will be any cooler and, even though the school is air conditioned, that doesn't man anything in the cafeteria. It gets unbearably hot! The employee who gave us so much trouble with her attendance last school year is moving to a different position in the school. We found this out less than a week before school starts, leaving us a person short to begin the year. Wish us luck!
  3. Same with us. It's awful, isn't it?! Are you on AEP?
  4. Checking in for July from sunny Oahu! Our vacation is going wayyy too fast but we’re trying to enjoy every minute of it. Last year my best friend from high school and her husband were hoping to come here with us but that’s when her husband’s cancer returned. Unfortunately he passed away in April but we were able to talk her into joining us this year, sort of a bittersweet trip. This is a photo I took this morning while we were parasailing.
  5. I would love some of that heat! We haven't had very much warm weather here lately. The last few days has only been in the 50s and we're supposed to be below normal for quite a while yet.
  6. Bring on May! Less than 3 weeks of school left! I can't wait!
  7. April's here...hopefully bringing warmer weather here to stay. This past weekend we were close to 70 degrees, yesterday and today in the 40s and barely feeling like it. It's supposed to be warm again tomorrow but bringing in some nasty weather with it. On a good note...a couple weeks ago hubby won $10,000 on an Ohio lottery scratch-off! No April Fool's joke, he really did!
  8. I celebrated my birthday on the 28th of last month and what a GREAT day it was! My co-workers/employees surprised me with a cake (even if the one who made it did spell my name wrong), balloons and gifts, then that evening my son took us to see Josh Turner in concert! This is one birthday that will be difficult to top! She's beautiful!!
  9. It was great, wasn't it?!
  10. We're bracing for a cold week next week in NW Ohio. Wind chills could be down to 30 below on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings. I wish I could hibernate!
  11. Finally back to work today. We were supposed to go back yesterday but the roads in our county were very slippery so they closed school for the day. We did have a 2 hour delay this morning but we ended up going after the delay. We haven't seen temps above freezing for a while now and it doesn't look like it will warm above freezing anytime soon. We got a couple inches of snow here Sunday night, closer to Monday morning, but nothing like what southern Ohio got.
  12. It's hard to believe we only have 2 more days of school and I'm off for 2 weeks. Even harder to believe is that I have so much wrapping to do and I know I still have some shopping to do and just no desire or motivation to do it.
