Shipping for the 299 to MO was $48 and for the 499 it was $44. Good or bad, does that mean eMachines uses less packaging?

Guys, I got the free shipping because I'm a Reward Zone premier member. You have to spend way too much money each year to get that. LOL
Spending "too much money" is relative :).
$2500 a year is not that much to me (just sunk 14K on a home theater and I just chose not to go with my local BB since they didn't have a Magnolia store).
This purchase though gets me about 1/2 way to silver status.

I'm worried about the size, too, but I guess you can't beat being able to carry a computer in your purse!
Funny - my SIL said the same thing when she saw mine. You can't beat it for the price.

Actually, I think I am more likely to break the computer than he is!
For a 5 y/o I think it would work fine, just remember that it does not come with an internal CD-ROM drive. That may or may not be an issue.

Is a Compaq netbook better than an Acer netbook? Got one at Target on Monday, but now I might get this one and take the Acer back...
I bought the one from Target as well (and is the one that I am already wearing out the F5 key on as we speak). I like it alot, the only thing is that the keyboard and touch pad size size is taking some getting used to with my big bear claws.

anyone noticedon the 499 desktop there is actially 2 of them, meaning 2 different SKU numbers? SKU: 9999120500050065 and SKU: 9999120500050064
yep - same on the 299 package as well - the difference being one sku lists the antivirus and antispyware while the other one does not.

I bet the $499 and $299 desktop packages won't be available online (hence why you can't click on them in the BB ad and everyone including me is getting the "coming soon" status)...I hope I am wrong though.

No problems here in Jefferson City, Missouri; I made several purchases locally last Monday, and even made a few last minutes purchases in Chicago on Wednesday.
I did think it was a little odd that I had to point out the items that I wanted adjusted; I would have thought that they would just scan the receipts, and items would have been automatically adjusted. No matter though, I was in and out in less than 5 minutes.
Yet another reason why Target continues to earn the majority of my retail business; not only on BF, but throughout the year.

Multiple separate purchases/orders means you will incurr shipping charges for each order; at leas last year they did not combine shipping for seperate purchases online.
