Actually, there might be a learning curve. My son gave last night's dinner a seven. I gave it a four. Fried chicken was great except for the coating which was neither tasty nor crispy. The french fries were too crispy. I can easily remedy the fries problem by cutting the fries bigger. I am open to fried suggestions on the chicken. Still having fun.

Tonight I cooked in my Cooks Essentials 5.3 qt for the first time. Catfish. No learning curve. This thing just makes good food effortlessly. After supper, I sliced up some chicken breast for jerky. I put all the 'crumbs' in the fryer, sprayed on some oil, and sprinkled on some spiced. Five minutes later, I had a pile of delicious chicken pieces. Thanks to 'peep for pointing me towards this particular fryer. It looks like a great value!

Black Friday rings up record $6.2 billion in online sales
len_mullen replied to Brad's topic in 2018
how does that compare to brick and mortar? -
Didn't even put on pants Friday. Everything I wanted (except for airpods which I am still looking for, @cybermonday) was available online on or before BF. Do people still compare B&M to online sales? As always, thanks to Brad et al for hosting these forums. A significant portion of my purchases were influenced by our discussions -- some by my own research! Let's do this again next year!

I LOVE my 3926TCDB. We had a lot of fun with a Ronco unit (one of the round dehydrators that blows air from below), but, after using it for most of a year, I decided to spend some money on a bigger model with some features that make dehydrating less labor intense... Back mounted fan Dishwasher safe racks Timer Capacity Square trays Replacement partsThe back mounted fan blows the air evenly across all trays so that there is no need to rotate the shelves every hour. This means I can actually sleep at night. The timer allows me to put a batch in on my way to work. Although spraying with Pam makes the trays pretty easy to clean, it's good to know you can throw nine trays in top rack of your dishwasher. The back fan also means the bottom is a smooth surface which is easy to clean. Maybe most important with a nine tray dryer, the back fan means that the smell of one tray doesn't become the taste of another. Square trays are better for drying square stuff like jerky. Excalibur sells stainless replacement trays. Some stuff that may be of interest to you... https://www.excaliburdehydrator.com/media/Manuals/DehydrationGuide07617.pdfhttps://www.excaliburdehydrator.com/wp/browse-recipes/https://healthyblenderrecipes.com/recipes/type/excalibur_dehydrator_recipes I am not aware of any deals at this time. Happy shopping!

Can you provide a list of the games?
-
Depends what you are shopping for. Seems to me that most of the door buster prices are not much different from store to store. Kohls' ad is pretty great. So is Walmart's. I'll probably get the laptop on Staple's front page.

I apologize for not answering the question you asked, but I would still take a look at the tcl roku televisions. You can configure them to power on to the last connection used so, he won't have to deal with the smartness. The thing he will love is that if you plug a 16g usb stick onto the tv, it can pause, rewind, and fast forward through 90 minutes of television. When you are going back and fourth, there are visual clues as to where you are (stills). I have this one... https://www.walmart.com/ip/TCL-55-Class-4K-Ultra-HD-2160P-Roku-Smart-LED-TV-55S405/787770978 I like it a lot. It also has a grid style guide which is populated with PSIP guide data so there is no need for internet or a service.

I use a GPS. I think the GPS manufacturers are putting themselves out of business. While I can load an app on my phone which is free and continuously updated, the GPS I paid for has to be attached to a PC for updates and the companies that make them sell 'lifetime maps', but 'kill off' models in a few short years. Not sure I will buy another. Kohls has a Garmin on sale for $90. If has 'Lifetime Maps' and you get $15 Kohls Cash. You can get it shipped free from Garmin for $60 right now... https://g.factoryoutletstore.com/cat/75555-287937/Garmin-Drive-Series.html?cid=226265&chid=1&campaignid=137396524&adgroupid=49395376763&creative=238218961399&targetid=kwd-299434211743&matchtype=e&device=c&network=g&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIpMW55PjS3gIVBITICh1DkwsBEAAYASAAEgIzXvD_BwE if you are OK with a refurb. You can get the model with traffic for the same price (scroll down). Best Buy has the 51 LM for $90.

A conversation about a computer purchase ought to start with apps. And 'number of apps' is not important. If you only want to do email and surf the web, any one will do. If you have investment in the Amazon, Google, or Apple ecosystems, then you may want to stay within the ecosystem. My 'tablet' is an Asus convertible. It folds up like a laptop but the keyboard comes off for use as a tablet. The battery lasts eleven hours. Because it is Windows, to has laptop and tablet modes. It runs MS Office, so I can run Microsoft Access when I need to. And it runs DOSBox, so I can play old games and apps I still love. There is an HDHomerun app so I can use this outside or in the attic to point an antenna. Windows tablets start around $100 (Walmart), so you will not be out much if you make a mistake. The Microsoft Store has the Surface discounted for BF.

Sorry to hear that. Have missed your contributions here and am glad you are better!

Welcome home! Thought you died. Let's talk about the sweet spot in televisions for BF2018!
-
Most in these parts know I shop 24x365. BF is just another sale to me. Like Santa, I am making my list and checking it twice. There is risk and uncertainty associated with Black Friday shopping. If I see my item on sale for a great price, I will buy it even if I could get it a little cheaper on BF. I already paid $30 over BF for a 27" curved monitor. I have purchased clothes from Kohls. I grabbed a great slow cooker at a good price from BB&B. If you see a good deal, buy it. You can always return, price match, or price adjust.

Requirements are light... Window® OS* OS: Windows® 8 or later**CPU: Intel™ Core series or equivalent AMD® processorRAM: 4GBBrowsers: Latest version of Mozilla® Firefox®, Google Chrome™, Microsoft Edge™***50MB free disk spaceAvailable USB port or Bluetooth® connectionDisplay: Minimum 1024px x 768px screen resolutionI would expect that ANY laptop would suffice. I would not get a laptop with less than 8GB of RAM. I'd be looking at these (and partial to the 17" if it is in your budget)...
-
^^^ I agree. Simply trading cpu performance, battery life, and screen resolution for screen size. I'd get the 17" for myself and the 15.6 for my son.
