  1. I'm a avid Walmart BF shopper and I learned years ago to NOT go to the stores that open their doors at 5 am because this type of thing has happened where people fall and get trampled. I personally go to the Supercenter where you can wait inside and some of the other stores have started this in my area as well because of safety. I kept saying for years that Walmart needs a better system than the "blitz" system or someone is going to get hurt.

For those of you saying "why didn't someone help him?" it's because you have to worry about your own safety too. I've been in that situation where someone fell ten feet in front of me and because of all the pushing and shoving behind me I had to jump over her. I wanted to help her but if I did I would have been down there with her, but luckily she got up in a jiffy and wasn't hurt.

I think Walmart should be responsible for this man's death because you cannot blame the people in the front of the line since they were probably pushed and shoved from the back of the line. Walmart needs to create a secure environment for it's employees and customers.

That's exactly it. It seems to be an a hazard of BF in some stores. Specifically, Walmart in this case. The people pushing is very animalistic... it's like people trampling each other to get out of a burning building or something. It's not a burning building. It's Walmart!

I have gone to some stores, had planned to go out this year. But honestly, I left Powder Puffs football back in high school! I'd rather not be pushed, shoved, or hear anything REALLY vile (like gunshots... boy howdy) at 4 am.

Walmart doesn't seem to care too much. They LOVE the money they're bringing in I bet. The tramplers are paying their hard earned money at Walmart. They get the money and then feel sad for that poor man later. I'm not bashing Walmart because I don't mind shopping there--going tomorrow. But come on... this is crazy!

It's a cruel, cruel world we live in...

  2. Wow... I always joke and say that I'm staying away from WM on Black Friday because I don't want to get trampled. :( Sadly, it seems really common at Walmart. I remember a few years back some poor women got knocked over. Also, people throwing punches over an emachine computer?! Disgusting.

It's sad how disgusting some people can be. When is "the law" going to get to picking that security tape over with a fine-toothed comb. Whoever stepped on that man and kept going... those are the kind of people that make you lose hope in humanity. :( Bless that worker's heart...

  3. I've always had good luck with Stride Rite's wide shoes--only when they're on sale though (I think they're having a sale in-store now, if you have one close). Also, try Payless's Smart Fit shoes. I've had great luck with them. Cheap, too. :)

A brand that has a really, really good fit for wide feet (of all ages) is New Balance for sneaks.

  4. I'm Maggie, been a member here and a Black Friday enthusiast for 3 years now! I've been a SAHM to my two DS's, 5 and 7 years old and our dog, Archie since my oldest was an embryo. :lolrun: I'll be a working mom whenever I find a job that fits my schedule (I'm an EMT). I've been married to my hubby for 8 years (this past July). I love pulling up into the driveway and finding a package on my porch and I'm sure I'm not the only one here! :D I love volunteering my time for different organizations when I can. I can be found most days browsing for deals, blogging, sipping a cup of joe, and doing cartwheels in the backyard with the kids.

I should get one of those countdown clocks on my desktop for Black Friday. :tongue1:

Just a side... this looks like my Archie. --->> :2dog:

  5. What's a wristlet? I am seriously looking for an alternative to the fannypack, I just don't like them. I feel like if I put one on I'm aging myself 20 years.

    Here's my wristlet:

It's a really small clutch with a strap that goes around your wrist. :g_thumbri

    (that's a really big picture... holy crap! :P )

  6. Ok, I know we all have that one person that is just impossible to buy for. Either you don't know what in the world they would like, or they seem to turn up their nose at every present they ever get. I thought this could be a great thread for everyone that is having a hard time trying to find a gift to get a particular someone.

So, here's my dilema. My stepmother is impossible to please. She always turns her nose up at every gift she ever receives. I've tryed Bath and Body Works, jewlrey, I even got her one of those velour outfits (that she picked out herself) last year and she's only wore it once. And I don't want to get her a gift card b/c she's one of those people that no matter how much you spend on her it's never enough. I could really use some ideas.

You seem to care about her enough to want to find her something nice, even though she turns her nose up. I think that's very sweet of you. But if I were in your shoes, I'd get her a card and small gift card to a store you KNOW she frequents. Like the grocery store or Target (hey... everyone goes to Target... sometimes. :tongue1: ).

Don't stress yourself out trying to figure out anything for her. Let her turn up her nose at that grocery store gift certificate, as that's what she'll be getting for years to come. :giggle: I'm not even grumpy today. :trampolin
