  1. Have you tried calling or going in to talk to the local Postmaster? If you have this many stopping at the local P.O. and not going any further there is obviously a problem. Others may be having the same problem as well, so you calling in just might help figure out what is going on.
  2. The Imagine being discontinued has been a widespread rumor. ProvoCraft has said it has NOT been discontinued, but that they have temporarily stopped making them as they have plenty in stock. They just released new Imagine carts within the last month. You also do NOT have to buy print (Imagine) carts. Any cart will work on the Imagine.

It depends on what you want to use the machine for. I have an Imagine and a Create. I love my Create machine as I think it is the perfect size to take to crops as I mostly scrapbook away from home. It is better than the original baby bug as it has some of the features the Expression does like cutting down to a 1/4 inch, flip, etc. If you have a Gypsy and an original baby bug you can do the same things as the Create though.

The Imagine is a very large machine and not ideal to take to crops. This is good to use at home. You can very quickly print out gift tags, cards, and other images for scrapbook pages. There is no need to paper piece the images together unless you want to.

The Expression machines are good if you don't want a printed image and would rather paper piece images together yourself. You can cut up to 12x24 inches. They machines can travel, but are pretty bulky. I don't have this machine, but friends have the E1 and E2. They both take theirs to crops and are fine with doing so.

  3. It is the Imagine machine, not a regular one. ProvoCraft has stated they are NOT discontinuing them, but have for now stopped production since they have so many in stock. They just announced new cartridges for the Imagine in the last month. You can use any Cricut cartridge in the Imagine machine. If you use the Cricut imagine carts you can print and cut. If you use any of the other cartridges you can cut the images like you would normally do on any Cricut machine. I have heard you can fill in colors on the regular Cricut cart cuts, but I haven't tried that yet. This is a great price on the Imagine for a real store. I got mine a bit cheaper off eBay a while back, but I think prices have climbed a bit on there recently. If you go the eBay route make sure you buy from an authorized re-seller so you have the 1-year warranty. I had to send my first one back as the ink carriage did not work properly.

I have a regular machine and the Imagine. They both have their pros and cons. The Imagine machine is good for someone that scraps at home a lot, wants to easily print out images and not paper piece items together. It is not good for taking it to crops as it is very large. The mats are kind of a pain right now as they are not that sticky. ProvoCraft is reformulating the adhesive on these mats and the new ones should be released anytime...soon I sure hope!

  4. I got a 19" RCA tv from Kmart this morning. There was about 75 people in line this morning when I got there - I wasn't really expecting that many. Luckily I ended up with the tv and even got SATC2 dvd. Also grabbed some 99 cent socks and Pepsi 2-liters. The only thing they were out of that I wanted was the gingerbread man salt and pepper shakers, oh well.

Also stopped at Meijer for some lounge pants and the the gas station for a paper and cappuccino. Now back snug in bed :)

I wanted to hit Walgreen's, but my store didn't open until 9 and I didn't want to wait around for an hour.

  5. My cousin got the one last year and it still works fine.

I have an Emachines desktop that is 8 years old and still works fine, although a bit slow which is to be expected. I had an Acer netbook, it lasted about 9 months and up and died. Luckily I had a Square Trade warranty on that one and I got all my money back. So you may want to think about Square Trade, they have a great warranty program and good prices. There are usually coupon codes out there too.

  6. Both the Hitachi and RCA seem to be nice. Be careful of the "LED" reference on the Hitachi. It is an LCD TV (with LED edge-lighting). The RCA supports 1080i whereas the Hitachi only does 720P.

I plan on trying to snap up the RCA as a 2nd monitor (and TV). If I get skunked out of one, I'll try for the Hitachi @ Radio Shack.

Thanks for the input :) After reading what you said about the LED I ended up deciding on and getting the RCA - I hope you got one too! Kmart was a disorganized mess in electronics, but luckily it worked out.

  7. You can cut fabric with the cricut. I saw someone do it at a crop before. I think she had to put some sort of backing on the fabric first though. Also I've seen discussions of cutting felt on the Cricut message boards. I'm not sure on the outcome of that though, you may want to check their MBs out for more info.
  8. I have the Create machine. I'm really surprised no one has that model on sale this year. All three machines can cut paper, vinyl, thinner chipboard etc. The difference is getting the deep cut blade for thicker things. But the regular blade will cut vinyl on any of the machines. I think the main point of concern is whether you paper craft in your home or you're on the go a lot. I mostly craft at crops and retreats so I knew I didn't want to lug the big machine around. However, there are a few people that will take the big ones to crops. I personally just don't want something that big to carry or to take up space at my table. But if you craft at home mostly I would probably go for the Expression.

The original machine is just lacking some of the features that the Create and Expression have. Although if you get a Gypsy that will make up for most of the lost features.

  9. Any thoughts on what the best purchase is out there for a 40-46inch tv in the $500 range. I was looking at the Insignia at Best Buy, but I'd REALLY rather not have to go to Best Buy to get it. 720p is fine, because I don't use blu-ray. And I'm thinking plasma. So many to choose from.....

Walmart has 13 Plasma and LCD tvs for under $500 right now, for 40-42 inch. If you don't mind staying in the smaller size of your range you really don't need to fight the crowds for the price point you are looking at. I've been considering the 40" size for a while and Walmart has had some nice prices for at least a couple months on them. You could also probably check out Amazon.com for similar sizing/pricing.

  10. I'm not sure about Old Navy, but at other stores (Target, Best Buy, Sears, Circuit City, etc) I have seen this happen and people are not happy. You could get anything from rude looks and snide remarks to yelling by others in line to someone from the store removing you from the line. If you trade 1 to 1 you should be fine. But if there is 1 person in line and all of a sudden before opening it increases to 3 people that would really be ditching and people aren't going to be happy. I wouldn't recommend it.
  11. Any thoughts on the smaller tvs? I need a 19" for my scrapbook room. It won't be used much, and that is the largest size that will fit in the room nicely. I'm looking at the following:

    Kmart Thanksgiving - $139.99 for a RCA 19" LCD

Radio Shack - $149.99 for a Hitachi 19" LED, I'm worried about the minimum 1 per store...but would it be worth another $10 to get a LED?

I have found a few reviews on each one and they seem pretty positive overall and especially good picture quality. Any thoughts or advice? TIA :)

ETA: I'm not really looking at the Walmart 19" as it isn't a name brand and I really don't want to fight about anything this year...yeah I'm getting weak or perhaps just lazy :tongue1:

  12. Last year the WM Cricuts and sale cartridges were on their own 4 sided square display. At my local store it was in the middle of a main aisle near the food section (not anywhere near crafting at that time). I'm not sure if they list the cricut items on their maps or not. This blog has pics of this year's actual display - http://mumoftwoblog.blogspot.com/2010/11/look-whats-at-my-walmart.html Look at the last picture to see the Cricut machines and to get an idea of the type of display.

The purple one sure is tempting! but my create is enough for me since I scrap on the go so much. I will pick up a Lite cart or two though. Good luck!

  13. Hope nobody has asked this question I'm about to ask. Sorry in advance if they did ....ok, so WalMart price matches, right? But what if I want to PM something that WM has in its 12:01 am sale, but it doesn't go on sale until 4am at the other store?? Will I be able to PM anyway? I thought the midnight sale would work great for me, but if I have to wait until 4 or 5am to PM at WM, that defeats the purpose of going.

I'm pretty sure you would have to wait until the ad was in effect. I know my WM would make me wait until 4am for the price match. They always double-check the dates and times, but once those check out they are happy to PM.
