  1. I just picked up my "free" 25 lb turkey the other day. Our local supermarkets have this thing where if you buy $300 worth of groceries over a 6 week period you qualify for a free store brand turkey. If you want a Butterball (like I did) then they deduct 99 cents off per pound. The Butterballs are on sale for $1.29 a pound, so I ended up only pay around $6.00! I'm a happy bird!
  2. With so much emphasis on weight control and healthy living for children, I am predicting that the Fisher Price Smart Cycle will be a hot seller. Walmart has a display up and my almost 3 year old grandson was fascinated with it. Needless to say, I already grabbed one up for Christmas!

    Happy Shopping Everyone!

  3. Thanks for posting this. You would think with Sears taking over Kmart that the sale would be a little more interesting....The 79cent Pepsi is a normal sale here in SNJersey. The wet dry vac isn't bad, but....just not worth fighting the crowds over.

Again, thanks for taking the time to post this for all of us.

  4. My local kmart does. I, too, had the problem of no one back at the layaway area. I just dialed 411 on my cell and called up front at the service desk and asked if they could please send someone back. I've been in retail management for over 20 years, believe me...I've seem it all so I may as well be amongst the other crazy shoppers...LOL
  5. Went to Wally World today and they had an entire aisle devoted to back to school items on clearance. Sharpie markers were 25 cents! Everything was marked down dirt cheap. I guess they're making room for the big holiday coming up.

    Happy Shopping!:)

  6. There is no way I would even attempt to ask someone here in South Jersey to put a number or name tag with a number on them. Last year they had 9 cop cars including 2 canine units to keep the crowd under control at our local Walmart. I'm not even going to bother going there this BF. We have really ignorant people here. I truly wish I could move out of the area as it's getting worse!
  7. I did one BF at Walmart two years ago. Seven patrol cars, four of which were canine units and lines that wrapped around almost a 1/4 mile of shopping center parking lot convinced me NEVER AGAIN! Even with the cops there, people were pushing, fighting and shoving just for some stupid cheap brand TV. This past year it was worse from what my neighbor told me. Everyone wanted the $400 lap top computer and were out for blood to get it. As much as Black Friday is a part of my holiday experience, I think I'll go to a more subdued store while everyone else is fighting for their Walmart stuff.
  8. Wal-mart is making a business decision to end layaway because in the end they lose more than they make. They have to hire extra help, pay for 10-20 trailers to store layaways, lose money on merchandise customers NEVER come pick up, lose money on things that go on clearance while its sitting in layaway, and countless other things... Layaway usage has declined over the years and they did a customer poll over the last several years before they made this decision. Why should they lose money so people can use them as a "storage" facility to hide gifts during the holidays. They can use all that manpower to be on the salesfloor to help better assist the customers. They will lose some customers and if those people want to go pay HIGHER prices at some other retailer then let them

Well, in a different light, if they get better profits by phasing out layaway, I truly hope they put some of those profits towards raises and better health insurance for their associates. Walmart is well known for it's iron pockets. The Walmart employees here in South Jersey are miserable to deal with and are overworked. Just a heads up...only 90 days left for Christmas Shopping! :D
