Belk is taking over Parisian here at the nearest mall, and I am not happy about it. We have one in my small hometown, and it is overpriced mediocore brand stuff that you can get at other stores much cheaper mixed in with overpriced brand name stuff you can get at TJMaxx. I prefer Parisian, mainly because they have better sales and a better cosmetic selection.

I was VERY dissapointed with the JCPenney ad. I usually get a lot there on BF. I hope they at least have the snowglobes.

Disney Store
in 2006
I can't remember what time they opened, but I know it was before many of the other stores. I got GREAT deals there last year. -
I got the Leapster L-Max for $60 back in September at Wal-mart.
My 4 yr old has the V-smile and the V-smile pocket and LOVED them, but both quit working within a matter of months. I can't speak for all of them, but mine were pieces of crap.
I am hoping to have better luck with the Leapster, as I have always had good luck with their other products.
BTW, my son also plays with his brother's GBA, and PS2, so I am hoping this will hold his interest and help him learn basic kindertgarten skills.

My DS got one for christmas the first year they came out so what 3 years ago I think. His just stopped working one day over the summer. We plan to take it to a local repair shop that is cheap. Hopefully they can fix it, I would hate for all those games to go to waste.
Is it a TV repair shop? I hate to just throw ours away.

I haven't heard if they will be on sale, but just from personal experience I wouldn't recommend them. They are eduacational and really fun but both our Vsmile and Vsmile pocket quit working after only a few months. The boys were not rough with it, either. First the sound went completely out, then it stopped showing a picture. Unfortuneately, the warranty on them is really crappy as well, so we couldn't get a replacement.
I have heard great things about the Leapster Max, though.

I would charge a service fee

In Alabama it rarely gets all that cold in November-usually in the 30's or so early in the morning and in the 50's and 60's by noon. We just bundle up in layers so we won't get too hot once we get inside. I'm sure drinking a warm beverage would also help, though.

BF means spending time with my mom, which I love to do. We've been doing this since I was a little girl. Even when we were really poor and could only go to look and hunt for major bargins. It really gets us into the Christmas spirit.

I put layaway on at Walmart this weekend and my receipt only gives me until December 6th to pay for it. I thought it was the 8th for all layaway, but apparently they still "stagger" it, so to speak, by the day you put it on.
I know it is only a couple of days, but that is more time that I will have to find a place to store the over $400 worth of toys I got for the boys. (Yes, I was a bit shocked to see that it was that much, but toys are freaking expensive!).
Anyway, I just wanted to gripe a bit about Walmart. I wish I had a Target in my little redneck town.

There are going to be a lot of dissapointed people if they don't get to trample someone on their way in to get a $5 Care Bear;)
Seriously, I usually go later in the day because I hit the mall first. I went one year and was miserable, plus didn't get what I came for.

Hi, everyone.
I am from the North Alabama area and usually do my BF shopping in Huntsville, AL. I am 31 yrs. old and married with 2 wonderful little boys, ages 7 and 4. I currently work as an HR manager while finishing up my BBA in Human Resources Management at night and on the weekend this semester.
I love Black Friday and was so excited to discover this site last year. I am the informer for my friends and family as soon as I see the ads come up.
It's great to see you all here this year.

The place I work for is doing really bad this year (they are a pretty small business), so I prob won't even get the piddly bit that I usually get:( DH never gets one. And we had to use our savings for a gigantic plumbing problem.
BF may be a Visa only day for me.
-
I usually come home around 3-4pm, eat a leftover plate of Thanksgiving food and get my sweet husband to rub my feet. We always decorate for Christmas that weekend, so we do that the next day.
-
My experience on BF with Target has usually been that they have very few of the items that are advertised. I love to shop there normally, but never get to any of the good stuff before it's gone.
-
My mom and I go to Kmart on Thanksgiving evening, usually. They sometimes have CD's and video games really cheap. We also hit Big Lots to get some wrapping paper for our BF purchases.
-
First the teenager and I hit JC Penney for the snow globe and any good door buster sales.
I'm right there with you. My mom and I have a collection of the JCPenney snow globes and the ornaments that they offered the years before that.
We usually hit JCPenney and used to do McRae's after that. They stopped doing the cracker jacks then closed down where we live so that will change our routine a bit. We then split up and go wherever. I usually hit the doorbusters at Parisian, go see what the Disney Store and The Children's Place have on sale.
I avoid KB Toys like the plague, though. No BF toy shopping unless it is something I can't get online or somewhere less crowded.:)

Mom and I are terrible. We stay gone all day, usually returning close to dark despite leaving at 4:30am or so. But we live 40-45 minutes from the nearest mall, so that isn't so bad if you consider the traffic that day.
-
I went this weekend and they had the garden stuff 6 for $30, and some of their beauty/fragrance gift sets 40% off. I got the garden stuff as gifts-I mean, hey, $5 each isn't bad!

Target was also nice here in North Alabama. They were constantly re-stocking the shelves and were really very nice even when their lines were extremely long.
My "gripe" store for today was Old Navy. I didn't really have anything in particular I was looking for in there but just went in to see if I might find some bargains. I found boys Old Navy logo long sleeve shirts for $10 and long sleeve polo shirts for $10 so I thought I would pick up some for my 12 year old son. They had 2 lines waiting that reached the back of the store. I stood in line for 35 minutes and maybe moved 10 steps forward. I ended up leaving my stuff there because I would have been waiting 2 hours for 4 shirts! The employees didn't even seem to care either! No thumbs up for Old Navy today!
I TOTALLY agree about Old Navy. You must have been at the Madison store because the lines were utterly ridiculous. I love the store and did see some good deals, but was not willing to wait 2 hours after fighting the BF mall crowd:tired:

My car just got put in the shop, and it is going to take my entire BF money/Christmas savings to fix it. Also, my DH has got to work 4 out of the past 10 days (he's paid by the hour). This sucks so bad. I will totally have to charge everything or just "window shop".
-
Are you crazy? We're all cheapskates here?
The whole server thing is getting kind of irritating, though. Esp. now that BF is almost here!
-
My boys always loved the Little People stuff. My oldest son is 7 and still plays with the farm set sometimes. ;-)
-
The BBW here is always SWAMPED on BF. They offer discounts on their antibacterial stuff and usually the wallflower things. I usually avoid it because it IS so crowded!
KUDOS to Target..took care of customers
